A short while ago, Jimmy Secretan posted this response on everything that happened today:
"We have paused everything related to our Fediverse ingestion for now and we are removing everything ingested.
To be honest, the extreme negative reaction was a surprise to me, as I thought interaction between disparate systems was the entire point, but clearly we didn’t navigate the culture correctly."

Make the world a better place, bully your local tech bro today!

Seconding Simplewall, it really just works.

LiveLM ,

I like Simplewall.
By default, it blocks everything and shows you a popup whenever an app or service tries to make a connection, similar to LittleSnitch for MacOS if you're familiar with that.
The first few minutes can be a bit annoying as you figure out just how many background services in Windows are trying to phone home, but after that, great peace of mind knowing nothing will talk to the internet without you knowing.
Definitely overkill for most users, but if you don't mind the initial burden, highly recommend.

A PR disaster: Microsoft has lost trust with its users, and Windows Recall is the straw that broke the camel's back (www.windowscentral.com)

It's a nightmare scenario for Microsoft. The headlining feature of its new Copilot+ PC initiative, which is supposed to drive millions of PC sales over the next couple of years, is under significant fire for being what many say is a major breach of privacy and security on Windows. That feature in question is Windows Recall, a...

It's what they should have done from the beginning, there must be a horde of MSFT employees holding back the urge of saying "told you so" to their boss right now lol

This Hacker Tool Extracts All the Data Collected by Windows’ New Recall AI (www.wired.com)

When Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed the new Windows AI tool that can answer questions about your web browsing and laptop use, he said one of the “magical” things about it was that the data doesn’t leave your laptop; the Windows Recall system takes screenshots of your activity every five seconds and saves them...

The best part of this 'hacking tool' is that it's 5 lines of Python and the rest is just fluff lol

LiveLM ,

???
Taking down PirateBay didn't kill the torrents it hosted

LiveLM ,

Just sent them a couple of bucks. Wish I could give more but the conversion rate on my currency is atrocious lol 🫠

LiveLM ,

They're Metadata specific for Macs.
If you download a third party compression tool they'll probably have an option somewhere to exclude these from the zips but the default tool doesn't Afaik.

LiveLM ,

Thanks for the recommendation, only thing keeping me on RealVNC Android was the better UI 🙏

LiveLM ,

It's not, it just a marketing image.
Say what you will about Microsoft and Win11 but their 3D animated trailers and marketing images look amazing

LiveLM ,

?????
Is this guy stupid or what, current day Twitter could not be further than "Freedom technology".
You can barely even see Tweets while logged out for fucks sake

LiveLM ,

I mean, Bing gives you link references in its answers, maybe something like that?

LiveLM ,

They're gonna add this in and call it "Jeremy mode", just like the existing Joe Mode

LiveLM ,

Try DaVinci Resolve.
Also I don't know where you're getting you're piracy from because the only game I've ever found where a crack was confirmed not playing right in Wine was Codex's Denuvo Crack for Puyo Puyo Tetris 1

LiveLM ,

Yeah you just about summed up my thoughts about the feature.
It sounds like it could be genuinely useful, but I could never trust Microsoft to do it right, no matter how much they insist it's local only.

LiveLM ,

It was a beautiful 3 chilly days over here, now we went back to our regular daily hell 🫠🫠🫠

Miniflux is a minimalist and opinionated feed reader

I've been using it for a month or two now, so far it's one of the best RSS readers I've used. Highly recommend.

LiveLM ,

Steam desperately needs to allow you to NOT update a game.

Tech companies are so out of touch ffs, I cannot believ—

shifts executives to six-day

Lmaoooo Fuck 'em, should have made them do the whole 7

LiveLM ,

Do keep in mind the microphone is only on when you touch the touchpad, this device doesn't use "wake words" like Alexa, Google Assistant, etc

The free Delta game emulator for iPhones is live on Apple’s App Store (www.theverge.com)

Caveat: It isn't available in the app store in the EU, and is instead only available via the developer's marketplace, AltStore¹. As far as I can tell, this genuinely isn't because of greed, but because of a little detail in Apple's EU rules (possibly wrong):...

LiveLM , (edited )

Unfortunately the only functional iOS emulator for games I've ever seen is TouchHLE, though that's only for PCs and rather experimental at the moment.

LiveLM ,

How embarrassing, I double checked their Github and still managed to miss Android support 🤦‍♂
Thanks for the correction.

What are we supposed to do? Give bad products good reviews so the poor little million dollar startup doesn't get its feelings hurt?

If we were talking about dishonest, malicious reviews, I'd understand.
That's not the case here though, not only is Marques' review honest, multiple reviewers reached the same conclusion as him.

Maybe try making a good product next time.

LiveLM ,

Don't think he's a member of the company though.

LiveLM ,

Thank you for making this!

I really need to try making something for Android, looks like fun

LiveLM ,

The Swype library really saved my ass, I was still holding onto Gboard because of it

LiveLM ,

Lmao, same.
I am both happy and slightly worried. Hapied?

LiveLM ,

Said oligopoly has those wittle reguwators on a string

LiveLM ,

Do not worry, everyone that uses Teams on a daily basis knows the most professional action is to defenestrate the machine running it.

LiveLM ,

Not gonna lie, this whole debacle made want to switch to NixOS.
Immediately rolling back to an uncompromised version was my first thought.
That and the fact that each application is isolated from each other right? Should hopefully help in cases like this

LiveLM ,

Ah so this is how I find out. Sweet.

FUCK

During a recent Q&A video, Huffman argued that he was totally justified in paying himself more than the CEOs of Meta, Pinterest and Snap combined.

"If the company does well, I will do well," he said. "If the company does not do well, I don’t either."

Motherfucker is saying NOTHING. Generic ass, MEANINGLESS STATEMENT

LiveLM ,

I TAKE MY SHIRT OFF AND ALL THE HOES STOP BREATHIN' accessing their Twitter accounts WHEH? 🧛‍♂️🦇🩸

Man, reading this post nearly gave me a headache. I hate it when brands try to act all 'hip and cool'.

Help us fill this thread with ways you use PHILLY Cream Cheese that shouldn’t be delicious✨ but are ✨

Yes, something about cream cheese freshly squeezed straight from the brick really does hit different.
Why let a little packaging get between you and your PHILLY, am I right?

Shut up brand. Shut the fuck up brand. Jesus Christ

Removing community captions was such a cartoonishly evil move. It's a shame our laws don't work for shit, they deserved to be sued to high heavens for that.

Wait, why can't you feed it to Children under one?
Some type of bacteria they're not ready to handle yet?

Hard disagree. They (and most other Android emus) are sketchy as hell, I believe using them for anything authentication related would be dangerous

LiveLM ,

My exact reaction lol. These companies are so focused on the short term it's ridiculous.

LiveLM ,

lol memorize the zip of your local McDonald's and roll with that

An ugly new logo, continued development on world's shittiest mobile app, and a terrible brand new UI for the website (not to be confused with the previous terrible new UI)

Oh yeah, they also did some NFT bullshit, almost forgot about that one.

LiveLM ,

r/jailbait

Oh ho ho, I've heard spez is quite familiar with this one

LiveLM ,

Oh they will "start". Right. I am positive they have not started before they announced they would, totally.

Another successful OpenBSD setup

I've been buying these little boxes from AliExpress for years to use as firewalls and routers. My oldest one is almost 9 years old now! OpenBSD installs just fine. Just a BIOS tweak to always boot up after power is restored.

I'd love to use a Zimaboard too but they're not available were I live.
I could import one but the currency conversion + import taxes make it very not worth it.
