Worked for me. Still don’t have kind

Sometimes can’t distinguish between a hydrant and a couch so it wouldn’t do a CAPTCHA either

Apparently Samsung Folds have some kind of healing (according to Reddit posts). But remember… Apple bad

jaykay , (edited )
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

I’ve read through the above Samsung patent and the Apples one. The one main difference I found was that Apple is talking about a heating layer between the other layer in the display that can initiate the selfhealing process (which could be initiated by the user, on schedule, or while charging the battery). I haven’t see a mention of such thing in the Samsung patent. Plus, Apples patent doesn’t seem to go into detail regarding the materials of the layer, only that it can be made out of „suitable materials”.

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

I don’t think they mention any material specifically, only „materials with selfhealing properties”. They leave it „open to interpretation” lol

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Can they actually do „nothing new”? We’re talking about a patent here that they were granted. Aren’t patents by definition about something new?

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

It feels like… „selfhealing? I heard that before. Apple? Ah yes, don’t like. Apple does nothing new and here is a patent that has the word selfhealing in it too”

The whole PC isn’t a browser, there are things that I don’t want saved every few seconds, with potentially sensitive details. Bank or medical info is a bit different than having a link to a webpage. And no, I don’t believe all this will stay local. Even if not straight away, it will eventually be sold to advertisers one way or another

Follow this series of guides and you’ll be golden https://www.smarthomebeginner.com/ultimate-docker-server-1-os-preparation/

This is what I personally used to start this journey. Remember you don’t have to go all the way with Traefik and all if you don’t need to access things from outside home. If you do, do it with a VPN instead of a domain

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Remember to cool it in the middle of the floor though

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

It’s more „outrageous” if it’s only Apple and makes you click :P

They’re not for rich people, they’re for people who want to look rich

Thinking of building a database of "stuff" that I have at home + some other family households. Multiple accounts with private and shared inventories.

The use case is basically so that all my family members we can check that "John has an old laptop collecting dust" or "Mary has this specific tool that I'd love to use for my current project"....

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

I’ve heard good things about grocy not sure if it fits your case

+1 for docker and minimal maintenance. Only updates or new containers might break stuff. If you don’t touch it, it will be fine. Of course there might be some container specific problems. Depends what you want to run. And I’m not a devops engineer like Max 😅

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

I think I’ve had a similar problem with a different container. After restarting the browser, does it work if you authenticate another app?

jaykay OP ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

It's a style, shush

jaykay OP ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

So, I was about to delete the post, but I'm curious… why you think THIS is more believable? I'm not trying to be difficult, just trying to understand.

The whole article is based on what Seth Sorensen, Nebo School District Public Information Officer, said. Yes, theoretically he should be more believable than a group of children, as he's... well, an adult and a person working there (or just related to the educational system). Do we just attribute honesty with their employment position? I'm probably missing something

jaykay OP ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Thanks for the explanation, I think your take is reasonable. I’ll delete the post, we’ll see if any of that evidence comes up, it’d be crazy if it did lol

They photocopied a wet copy lmao it has spills . Unless that’s OP

Best resources to learn more about networking

I have been exploring the world of home servers/self-hosting for a little over a year now, and feel like I have at a decent understanding of a lot of things that go into this. The one thing I am not remotely comfortable with yet is networking. It's like a foreign language to me....

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Computer Networking: Top down approach book is awesome honestly

Comments no longer visible with youtube frontends?

Are comments no longer visible for anyone else using the youtube frontends? I can no longer see comments with either invidious, piped, or viewtube, and I've tried several instances of each. With invidious there's just nothing there below the video description. With viewtube I get an error message. And with piped I see...

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Unfortunately it’s difficult to get people to switch to it

jaykay OP ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

It’s not the cupboard, it’s the whole world that’s on its side, look at the clouds lmao

jaykay OP ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Yeah but I still don’t want to buy it lol

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Nooooo, not Affinity! “Felt right” my ass, everyone has a price don’t they. Well at least I paid for it already, so even if they go subscription I’m fine. Unless they lock me out of it somehow. But then they will just die, as only reason people use it instead of adobe is the pricing

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

No plans “at this time”. So next week I’m guessing lmao

jaykay OP ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Exactly, if you check GitHub, there are commits to both. But they were updated 1 year ago for Jellyfin and 11 months ago for Swiftfin

jaykay OP ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

The Jellyfin app itself doesn’t support Direct play, which ruins it for me straight away. Not to mention it’s just the web version in an app anyway.

Swiftfin app is fine, but it doesn’t have PiP, when you open a series, the episodes don’t show up until you select the season again. (There is an issue on GitHub for it and it’s been there for a year now https://github.com/jellyfin/Swiftfin/issues/653 ). You can’t mark episodes as watched, no support for some audio codecs, sometimes wrong audio/subtitles picked and other little things. Still prefer it to the other one but yeah…

jaykay OP ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

I tried vidhub but I don’t know if I trust them, they don’t seem to have micro transactions, nor donations, nor is the app paid. The app is not open source, and not really known. So free closed source app with no visible business strategy. Unless they’re really good samaritans. No idea about phyn

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Awesome work! But can we please normalise describing the software IN the post? From the post alone I have no idea what Stash is

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Wouldn’t FileBrowser work? Idk if you’re on docker or not though

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Not OP but… I have an old PC as a server, Wireguard in docker container, port-forward in the router and that’s it

@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Linuxserver

First day on the internet?

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

I recently went on instagram and Facebook, holy moly do people share a lot. Who the hell cares where you’ve been or had for breakfast

jaykay OP ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Yeah it’s the same. Apple Music is fine, it’s not a problem, I just thought I’d self host it :)

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

The one that make taking action against them possible. Liking a tweet and one reply by an employee of a 100 employee company is not it.

I refuse to “cancel” people because of he said she said.

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Imo, this kind of situation should be resolved irl, not on Twitter. So yeah, I will wait for the results of the investigation. We'll see what happens when they publish them. I can't tell you what evidence I need, cos I don't know. But I know twitter posts aren't it.

jaykay ,
@jaykay@lemmy.zip avatar

Yes, I’m waiting for the investigation Linus paid for. Is it naive? Maybe. But I rather do that than listen and be on the same side as people like you. Innocent until proven guilty.

Investigation says nothing happened. Okay.
Investigation says something happened. Depends what happens after that.
They don’t publish anything, we take out our pitchforks.

I don’t think Linus is the kind of person to control an investigation and the results they publish. Maybe I’m wrong, but again I don’t have stake in this. I watch content while playing games in the background. BFD. I’m not gonna make my lives mission trying to convince others that some random content creator is a bad person. It’s not my job to decide that
