That's not how the industry works.

Or, you know, any industry.

FakeGreekGirl ,

Here's my hot take:

No nation has the inherent right to exist. A nation has the sole duty to safeguard the lives, safety, and freedom of all of its people, and any nation that consistently fails to do this is illegitimate.

And yes, I agree, this makes nearly every nation illegitimate.

@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

It's gotta be. I'd recognize that "art" style anywhere.

This is what its like working in childcare. Kids do stuff like this all the time.

@196

I mean, the original (erased) text seems to include the phrase "whatever the fuck I want", so I'm not sure the change made it more edgy.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,

I wasn't actually sure, so I did a reverse image search, and it looks like the artist is Hannah Hillam.

I think I'm in love with her stuff.

The multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I did that with mine, and they made themselves fat. The vet basically made me start feeding them regular meals instead so they'd lose some weight. But I've had other cats before that were fine with just having food out.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I'm not into guys, but that dude is sorely tempting.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Gen X was born before around 82, I think, so they were probably a bit old for Air Bud to be a childhood movie in 97. Definitely the older ones might have watched it with their kids, though.

There's a new cider brewery that opened downtown that has no tipping. It's quite liberating.

FakeGreekGirl ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Because tipping is so ingrained customarily that if it's not banned, it will still be expected.

FakeGreekGirl ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Wait, are you saying that they're withholding rent and food money from servers by avoiding establishments that expect tipping?

Are we now obligated to eat out?

FakeGreekGirl ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I mean, they pushed back against someone who specifically said they avoid establishments where they are required to tip. What else can I get from that?

FakeGreekGirl ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I think I get what you're saying there. I was reading their comment in the context of how I read what they were replying to.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

True. The really poor people buy the off brand Malt-O-Meal cereals.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

And twist his nuts!

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Not really, no. I mean, it's cheaper than, like, steak, but it usually goes for twice as much or more than the store brand or bargain brand cereals.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Where I am, the big cereal brands (Kelloggs, Post, General Mills) tend to go for $6-7 a box, and the bargain brands are like half that at most. I agree, rice and beans would work better if you were being frugal. Or eggs; eggs were real expensive for a bit, but they're back down to $2 a dozen.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I think that's mostly to wash the excess starches off of the rice.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I'll ask Madame Guillotine if she is up for another round.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Yeah, that is an excellent point. The time to actually prepare rice and beans comes at a premium when you're working multiple jobs to make ends meet.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Sure, but neither would you, if you drank a cup of gasoline.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

15-20 minutes is a long time when you have a 30-minute gap between your two jobs.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Yeah, there was like a whole movement of "doctors" who recommended bland food to suppress masturbation, which would supposedly make you healthier.

That's also how we got Graham crackers.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Look up John Harvey Kellogg sometime. Dude was the Gwyneth Paltrow of his day.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I mean, hot.

FakeGreekGirl OP ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Yeah, but being poor and overworked will also kill your mental health, so...

    I switched from Eternity to Voyager, and I recommend the move.

    FakeGreekGirl ,
    @FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

    That. Few 17 year olds actually make the deliberate choice to have a child.

    FakeGreekGirl ,

    The version I always heard when I was young was, "If you're not a liberal at 20, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative at 40, you have no brain."

    Here I am in my mid 40s, and I'm pretty sure the conservatives are the ones with no brains.

    FakeGreekGirl ,
    @FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

    Formally progressive ideas (like mixed race marriage) are no-brainers today

    I mean, you say that, but...

    People who assume you're MAGA because you don't like Biden aren't the far left. Most of the far left doesn't like Biden either. Dude is a centrist placator. I will say he's better than the alternative, but that's only because the alternative is a demented ultra-grifter and his cult of fascist rubes.

    It's a brand of toilet bowl cleaner.

    @FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

    And both are equally valid.

    FakeGreekGirl ,

    I mentioned their Wilderness with Lavender scent in another comment. It literally just smells like lavender, and that's a good thing.

    I remember seeing that in the store before my egg cracked, and it had a sticker that said "Smells like manly lavender smells". I smelled it to find out what "manly lavender" smells like, and I quickly realized (1) it just smells like lavender, and (2) I really wanted to smell like lavender.

    It's funny looking back now, but the fact that it took a marketing campaign to tell me it was OK to like the scent of flowers...

    FakeGreekGirl ,
    @FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

    We definitely have it in the US as well.

    FakeGreekGirl ,
    @FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

    I used to gravitate towards more woodsy or foresty scents myself. Looking back, I think it was because that was the closest I could get to floral without being too "girly".

    FakeGreekGirl ,
    @FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

    Yeah, this would probably be better with a bit of a wording change (like "how deodorant is sold to women/how deodorant is sold to men").

    I mean, there's definitely a real phenomenon at play here, but I think it has more to do with how the system indoctrinates us than any real, actual preferences.

    I once tried to get internet service from a phone company which shall remain nameless*, and after three weeks and two missed appointments, I got an appointment from them for a Tuesday after 12PM. Nothing more specific than that, but "after 12PM".

    I had some stuff to do at work, so I went in to the office for the morning, then headed home. Got home at 11:55 AM, saw a note on the door saying sorry we missed you, please call back for a new appointment.

    I'm pretty sure my rage could have powered the sun at that point.

    *here's a hint: it starts with V and ends with erizon.
