I still like to make video content, so I post it on my self hosted PeerTube instance instead: http://tube.jeena.net

That way I'm far awaybfrom fame but also drama ^^

Intersting, I searched for myself and didn't find myself but other people related to the Indieweb community mentioning me there.

Very interesting to read. I remember doing reasearch back then around 2005 or so which filesystem I should use on my gentoo installation and with a lot of small files it seemed raiserfs to be the best for my use case. So I started using it.

Later I heard about what the guy did and I figured I will need to switch next time I reinstall it because that guy won't be able to fix critical bugs from inside the prison.

I wanted to do something similar for a long time but somehow all my atempts failed. I tried the build in into a Fritzbox but my laptop never could connect. Later I tried the wireguard addon in homeassistant but same there.

Yes port forwarding with everything else works well, I have no problem with port forwarding, running a lot of services from home.

For everyone without a AdGuard subscription who wants to watch YouTube without ads and without integrated sponsor bullshit on the TV I'd recommend SmartTube. Don't forget to remap your YouTube button on the chromecast remote to SmartTube.

I'm paying YouTube Premium but still use SmartTube on the TV because of its integrated Sponsorblock.

I can think of a very valid reason. I very often forget that I ran the washing machine, I'm already investigating how to send a notification to my phone or computer after it is done. Right now I am checking how much electricity it consumes and when it stops doing it. But a API would be nicer.

[Question] Is there a project to automatically act as a peer for a peertube channel?

Question is in the title, I am a fan of a channel and would like to automatically connect to the swarm and support the broadcast even if I am not watching live. I seem to remember a project that ran in docker and kind of acted like a cdn node for a channel, but I can't find it now. Anyone know of such a solution?

You can set up a empty instance which federates with that channel and the result will be that you share your server bandwidth with them.

People who use Spotify for Podcasts already sold their soul to that company they might as well just use whatever Spotify wants them to use.

Everyone else can just use one of the podcast apps which just download the podcast from the podcast website. This includes Apple's Podcast app or if you're on Android I'd use AntennaPod which is packed with great features.

That is exactle what I wrote I'm not sure why you cut the quote just before I say that those people should use whatever Spotify gives them.

And Apple podcast, AntennaPod and all the other podcast catchers do exactly that they use the RSS feed.

I really don't get the sentiment of that comment.

My family name .name seems also not used for the last 15 years, so I asked if I could get it but the guy told me that he and his family are using it for their email-addresses. So then I asked if I could have the my-firstname@lastname.name email address and he agreed and I've been using it ever since. But yeah the domain would have been nice for my family too. Instead I got a domain with the name of the village we lived in as children and my parents still own the house there.
