"Anarchist pop group Chumbawamba performed their hit single "Tubthumping" live at the 1998 Brit Awards in support of the Liverpool dockers. They changed the words of the song to "New Labour sold out the dockers; just like they'll sell out the rest of us!" Later in the evening band member Danbert Nobacon jumped onto Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott's table proclaiming "This is for the Liverpool Dockworkers!" before emptying a bucket full of iced water all over him."

Damn shame they described Chumbawamba as a pop group.

Delphia ,

Punks dont get old, we just make better union reps and health and safety officers.

Theres nothing more satisfying than telling an area manager that you're calling a stoppage until its fixed.

AVincentInSpace ,

inb4 half the comments in this thread are about the use in the meme format of a person whose face is not shown

homesweethomeMrL ,

How about complaining about the meme format of a known domestic abuser

What's the song?

Garbanzo ,

The song? Isn't it like 1/3 of their catalog?

paste that 1/3 please

Poop ,

They sing a lot about workers rights and unions, maybe you are joking. "Boys on the Docks" is almost what you're after, but not saying directly to join a union.

Ken: It’s brand new. It’s about my grandfather, John Kelley. He organized most of the union workers down on the fish pier.

Also, their song "Which Side Are You On" starts with the lyrics:

Our father was a union man,
Some day I'll be one too.

Achktually Which Side Are You On is an Florence Reece song from 1931 but yeah the Dropkicks version is pretty cool

Poop ,

I did not know that! Thank you for the achktually, I love the history of songs ;)

Come to think of it I've heard that song by Pete Seeger and never made that connection somehow until now. Double thanks!
