Are they reading this at the New York Times editorial board? Do they have any self-awareness left?

@JamesGleick finally the response I was looking for, at least someone else thought of it

@JamesGleick Dropping out is the best thing he can do for tha USA.

@JamesGleick The New York Times is doing exactly what it has done for over a century: acting as a propaganda machine for fascists.

They know what they’re doing. Goebbels called it the 60/40 rule but they had perfected it before he labeled it.

@JamesGleick the Times knows exactly what they're doing along with basically every other mainstream news source that is for profit unfortunately.

@JamesGleick

How does that serve Russia and Putin?

MaybeMyMonkeys ,

@JamesGleick Trump will do what is good for Trump, the country, not so much

@JamesGleick It's not that they're clueless. It's that they're comfortable with fascism.

JamesGleick OP ,
@JamesGleick@zirk.us avatar

@bstacey I think it’s something else. I think it’s a self-reinforcing arrogance. “We told you he was old. You said it was no big deal. You said we were doing Hillary’s emails all over again. Aha! See?”

@JamesGleick @bstacey They're so pissed he won't sit down for an interview with them.

@JamesGleick

To serve his country, Donald Trump should SERVE TIME!!!

Geoffberner ,
@Geoffberner@zeroes.ca avatar

@JamesGleick the Times are right. If Biden stays in, Trump will be president. There are other politicians in America. More popular ones, who can finish whole sentences on national television.

JamesGleick OP ,
@JamesGleick@zirk.us avatar

@Geoffberner The snarky exaggeration of your last sentence undermines your argument and makes me think you’d be fine with Trump winning.

Geoffberner ,
@Geoffberner@zeroes.ca avatar

@JamesGleick maybe you'd also like to accuse me of being a Russian bot, just because I remember how well, say, Elizabeth Warren debated.

JamesGleick OP ,
@JamesGleick@zirk.us avatar

@Geoffberner I see hyperbole is your thing. Biden is not literally unable to “finish whole sentences on national television.” If you looked at the transcript you would see that, sentence by sentence, Biden spoke far more grammatically and coherently than the other guy. Surely you know that, so really, don’t exaggerate.

My opinion is that a convention, full of discord and confusion, choosing a candidate who won no primaries, would doom the Democrats. You’re welcome to differ.

Geoffberner ,
@Geoffberner@zeroes.ca avatar

@JamesGleick there's some serious sunken cost fallacy going on in the Biden fan camp today. What would be so tragic about an energizing leadership campaign ending in a dramatic convention? That's how parties used to do it, and it worked.

JamesGleick OP ,
@JamesGleick@zirk.us avatar

@Geoffberner Nothing would have been tragic about that if it had begun nine months ago. Oh, for a time machine.

@JamesGleick I agree with the article of course but it’s shocking to be reminded of all the reasons in quick succession. On paper it’s black and white. It’s only the politics of it that are murky and dubious.
