Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) continues to be the member of Congress who best demonstrates the qualities of leadership so badly needed by her party. She will not succeed in impeaching these Supreme Court justices, but she will shine a light on their corruption and lay down a marker for voters.

@JamesGleick the entire party needs to pick a very public fight with the court right now. Make this election a referendum on the bought-and-paid-for court paving the way for a corrupt wannabe dictator and the billionaires he is openly soliciting for bribes.
@JamesGleick I don't have any respect for democrats plans to deal with this (too late btw). It was easy too see coming a long way off. The GOP'S grab for ultimate unchallenged power was never the presidency which is at the mercy of elections. It was plain to see it was control of SCOTUS, lifetime appointments. Democrats DID NOTHING! they are too weak to do what is necessary to combat the GOP.

@JamesGleick No one ever passes the torch. RBG was is far worse health than anyone knew and she did not pass the torch because thats what power does. No one gives it up. And Trump was able to elect even more extremists to the bench.
@JamesGleick I used to have a tweet pinned to my feed (when i was on twitter) that was my AOC disappointment canary: it said "if this tweet is still here, AOC hasn't disappointed me, yet."
If I were still on twitter, that tweet would probably still be up.
She will disappoint me because that's how politics and reality work. However, comparing her as a politician to every other politician I've paid any attention to in the past 30 years... there's just no real comparison. If we had 50 AOCs in Congress it would be about half as many as we need.
@JamesGleick Will it even get to the floor for a hearing? Republicans control the House and determine which matters get heard on the floor. Dick Durbin could do something in the Senate but he's not a fighter. I wish he would hand the gavel to Sheldon Whitehouse.

Checks and balances no longer work when corruption has infested the body, which means that although I’m a pessimist, this action, some action must be taken before the next phase. 🧐
@JamesGleick@futurebird In #Minnesota ; we currently have Ilhan Omar, who has called for impeaching the illegitimate extremists who form the current SCOTUS majority, and Tina Smith, who has long been advocating expanding the court and appointing new justices who respect the Constitution & human rights.
May everyone represented by other members of Congress encourage them to do likewise.
