markstos , to Selfhosted in Recommendation for outgoing-only SMTP server

@vegetaaaaaaa

After testing ssmtp, nullmailer, and msmtp for relay-only outgoing mail on Fedora . Here's my final report:

  • ssmtp is packaged for Fedora and I got it working, but the Ansible role I found for it had been abandoned by the author because ssmtp itself is unmaintained.
  • nullmailer might have worked, but is not packaged for Fedora.
  • msmtp worked. I used this Ansible role, after patching it to work on Fedora: https://github.com/chriswayg/ansible-msmtp-mailer

Since we're all here, any chance we can make a small push in the direction of having a standardized "style"/"theme" file that we can plug into the different systems?

BrikoX , to Privacy in Secure open source two-factor authenticator

Having second authentication on the same device, kind of defeats the purpose of two-factor authentication. The whole principle is that the first one is "something you know" and the second one is "something you have".

You can use something like KeePassXC that supports storing TOTP, but for the above-mentioned reason there aren't many native desktop clients for TOTP. You are better off using hardware key in these cases. Something like Yubikey or Nitrokey.

Contrast to circa 1997, and I got dual boot and mounting my windows drive figured out. Hadn’t found out about non-root users yet.

I asked in EFnet about how to start x. The answer I was given was rm -rf /. I said Thanks and rebooted to Linux.

Ladies and gentlemen, that is not the correct answer. The correct answer was startx. The answer I was given fucked both my Linux and my windows drives.

I am genuinely horrified to see how much data google collected from me

I created a google takeout and in that zip file I found some files containing a ton of data about me. It has logged every single page I visited while using the google search engine and chrome browser. It even logged every single time I opened an app on my old android phone. It even has VOICE RECORDINGS of me and a log of every...

Is it normal for the monitor to change setting (refresh rate) in exactly 6 seconds?
Shouldn't it take less time?

Gigabyte M32QC monitor connected DisplayPort
GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics
ASRock A620MHDV/M.2+ motherboard

Arch Linux with Cinnamon

This is a monitor with Variable refresh rate
I changed 60 Hz - 165 Hz in Cinnamon System Settings -> Screen.

But I feel it when I turn on the computer, because it changes from the default 60 Hz in the bios/systemd-boot/console to my system 165 Hz. So the startup animation of the transition from the black screen to the Cinnamon desktop does not happen at all before my eyes, because the monitor is still switching the refresh rate (the resolution remains as it should be in the bios/systemd-boot/console).

And when switching between TTY Ctrl+Alt+F2 etc. the same thing, it takes that long and in the background the TTY is already ready.

I dream of setting 165 Hz in the bios/systemd-boot/console.

But in DisplayPort, even setting the system to 60 Hz does not help, something changes anyway.

For HDMI 60 Hz it is smooth, no waiting.
