its not too bad. i switched from esxi to proxmox about 2 years ago.

i run a virtualized opnsense with 2 nic's passed through and another 2 virt, so it can be done

As others have said… HBA and a disk shelf

I went this route when I had too many 3.5 drives. The dsxxx that I got even came fully loaded with drives, only 1.2tb though

But we get to have lots of guns and facists. So it evens out

We have both guns and fascists here. There just not quite as many or as loud

let me guess, the didn't fill it with iron that would corrode and expand and blow out the concrete? or the fact that it has an excess of fired lime that re-seals cracks?

Quick lime as a 'concrete' is nothing new, or newly rediscovered though... The story seems to come up every few years, and anyone that has used a fluidised lime boiler knows how good quick lime is at forming concrete.
