Different kind of scheme. These are cold call scams.

GenZ falls for online get rich schemes at a higher rate than boomers but also encounter them at a higher rate.

Media knows how to sell a story.

Clent ,

This meme is so over done, the search results for Trump rule 34 are almost entirely just references to other versions of this meme.

You can't just make the meme, you have to put the work in to create rule 34 content first.

Rule 34 Donald Trump gets slightly more relevant results but all quite tame compared to what was around for the meme wars I participated in during his presidency.

Clent ,

With all these LLM engines creating some truly horrible images should be easy.

Clent ,

Everyone is stupid except me. I'm a misguided fool.

Clent ,

This is why I went with HomeKit devices. I do not understand why people trust Amazon or Google, their business models are not pro-consumer.

If Apple pulled at one of the maneuvers these two have, there would be a flood of articles condemning them. No one expects Amazon or Google to respect you.

Clent ,

Yes. I understand the people who don't use Apple products think they are smarter than those who do. Your list of common tropes is tiresome.

The reality is quite far from what you imagine. People who actually understand technology, people who are in the tech industry use Apple products at a higher rather than those who are not.

Instead of Apples well thought out walled garden, fools happily pay extra to play in Google/Amazon/Microsofts chain linked dirt pit. It's hilarious what lengths people go to pretend that is a better experience; that rusty chain link with barbed wire is superior to walls

Clent ,

Giving up and giving in are the same thing to the ruling class. They appreciate your support...not you specifically, but rather the investment they've made to make you accept their rule as fate.

Clent ,

Sure, as soon as the working class realizes that isn't the choice. The choice is obvious. People voting for the right, the party for the owner class are being tricked into voting for the same bosses that treat them like shit.

This prevents the working class people from being elected because the cost of running has been driven up by the right so all we have left are weathly democrats and those that aren't, those that made the mistake of baretending are ridiculed and the working class who votes right join in the piling.

They are class traitors and need this both sides narrative to justify being played for the fools they are

Clent ,

I hope he spends billions on it only to resell it for millions after the internet moves on.

Clent ,

Sounds like projection. Probably just got back from meeting with his Russian handlers and posted this to sooth their impotent rage.

Clent ,

Who would you rather encounter in the woods, a bear or a twink?

Clent ,

I wouldn't. Sounds like the type of trap a bear would set.

Clent ,

I can only imagine how often teacher's phone light up for these.

Clent ,

You think parents should get their kindergartens an Apple Watch?

Perhaps you think I'm referring to children past elementary school.

Regardless of what Apple says AirTags are and are not for people will use them however they see fit. For example, they are not for tracking pets but there are pet collars designed to hold an AirTag so clearly many people are ignoring Apple.

Attaching an AirTag to a child's backpack seems like an obvious way to track one's child, even if it's not supported use case.

The purpose isn't track things you know how to find but to find things that get lost; like children. There is also enough paranoia about kidnapping that I'm sure there are at least a few children in every classroom that are tagged.

Clent ,

I've never drank the stuff.

As far as I can tell, you're all addicts in collective denial.

Clent ,

This is long and I got bored but skimming it, it sounds like he was being stubborn about returning the items because he felt aggrieved. I can't really feel much sympathy for his situation.

Amazon has definitely declined but this isn't the shinning example I was hoping it to be.

Clent ,

Without externalities there can be no profit.

The idea that humanity created a non-zero sum system is pure hubris.

Clent ,

App Stores need to track the user to determine if the user has installed the website app before.

The EU demanded Apple allow third party stores and if Apple didn't implement these with the same feature set available to Apples store, the complaints would be focused there instead.

There are people who like to pick on Apple and most of them are technologically illiterates. This was true long before Apple become insanely profitable with the iPhone. It will continue to be true for the foreseeable future.

Haters need to hate. Apple haters are a distinct fetish.

Clent ,

Google's death spiral will take a while but it's clearly circle the drain.

It will likely never completely die the same way IBM never died but it will stop being the desired placed for new graduates.

Clent ,

When the government says to start preserving records, you start preserving records.

There is no need to pretend this is some government posture over secure messaging. This literally about the lack of saving those messages. How they were sent is irrelevant as long as a copy can be provided.

Clent ,

His only talent is convincing the wealthy to invest in his schemes. I don't understand how he does it, hearing him speak is painful.

He got lucky with Tesla becoming a meme stock.

SpaceX is being run by a competent engineer while its competitor, Blue Origin is being run by a megalomaniac. This is possibly Musks only competent move in business.

The rest of his ventures have been failures. To any one not blinded by greed, it's clear he long ago peaked. He's playing a shell game now but people will happily invest hoping luck will strike again.

Clent ,

The real trick there is how he didn't get sued.

The SEC has held him more accountable than the share holders

Clent ,

Without having to look at the device?

Clent ,

This thing is more rant than article so it's hard to refute what is being said.

People who tell you they are smart never are.

Likewise, people who tell you they've figured out how to navigate the system without being influenced by it are the easiest to control.

One of its basic premise here that is flawed. Most people go to the polls knowing exactly who they are going to vote for. Those who don't, are the ones marketers are trying to influence.

It isn't really clear what the goal of this rant is. I find a lot of these things come down to the adage "teenagers think they invented sex" -- people often confuse their mental awakening as novel discovery.

These people are rarely smart and are rarely worth listening to as they clearly fail to understand the next steps to such self discovery is to explore existing knowledge.

Clent ,

You went full conspiracy nut. Never go full conspiracy nut.

I love Market Efficiency UwU. Isn't the Rule-ing class just so responsible with their power? 🥰 (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

When society falls, the great femboy regime will rise from its ashes. All children will take puberty blockers. We will teach you to love your neighbor through the shared trauma of forced feminization. We will know peace in our time 😌...

Clent ,

Being a sociopath doesn't make you a billionaire but being a billionaire makes you a sociopath.

Solving our mental health problem won't prevent billionaires from existing.

Making excuses for billionaires isn't a mental health issue, it's an intelligence issue.

Clent ,

No. There are no "high empathy" billionaires. There are most certainly still people diagnosied with sociopathy.

I don't know why you feel the need to make such baseless arguments, blaming it on my reading comprehension is doesn't seem to fit. I'm reading you fine, I'm simply calling bullshit.

Clent ,

You did a really good job missing the point.

Clent ,

Calling it taxes extortion makes you a temporarily embarrassed billionaire.

Clent ,

Yes, that's the Iam14andThisIsDeep perspective of taxes. It's what libertarians, aka diet-republicans say.

Blaming taxes being too high as the reason for why the wealthy are wealthy is them performing mind control on you.

And if that's what not what you're saying, check the thread you're in.

Clent ,

Same. I've had several refunds. No request to return. Just full money back.

I don't think people recognize how often a purchase made to Amazon or some similar seller platform is actually coming straight from China; always with a 2x or more mark up.

I've taken to always searching on ali to see if I can get the same thing for 1/10 the price. They don't try to hide the shipping information like Amazon does. Where as Amazon won't report anything until it's in country and passed customs.

Life is full of surprise. For example, I didn't expect the stupidest thing I'd read all week to be in this post's comments.

    Clent ,

Really just sounds like they are deploying government equipment. There is no report of it being hardware built by spaceX. That is all speculation and clickbait m.

The company makes money by delivering payloads to space. In the end they are a delivery company moving packages from point A to point B.

That the US government would use this service seems obvious. SpaceX is well known for profiting off government funds.

    Clent ,

Pay to have fiber run to your house. Your living choice isn't our problem.

The rainbow table would have to include every four word combination. At around half a million words in the English dictionary, that's not a small number.

As another XKCD comic illustrates, it's cheaper to use a wrench.

    Clent ,

No. That's not how it works. That's not how any of this work.

A car does not automatically accept commands to devices it connects to because of some inherent trust. The car would be programmed to only accept commands from devices it expects to send it such commands.

Anyone who allows the toaster to not only command the car but alap unlock the car should be fired and blackballed from the industry. That's not a whoopsie, learning experience. That's an unforgivable level of incompetence.

    Clent ,

Interesting that the Lemmy hive mind wants this to be true, yet another indication that this place does not have a strong technical knowledge base. But no, this wouldn't be the decision of a single person. That isn't what this exploit is but again, trying to explain things to people who don't understand the technical side of things isn't a winning battle.

    Clent ,

From the toaster you'd still need to find a way to access a trusted device. This is going to require an exploit. But first the toaster needs meet some specific requirements, like does it have a web server or shell. If it's a simple device that merely broadcasts its state it likely does it meet these requirements.

If your WiFi thermostat is broadcasting its default SSID, that means it is not connected to your WiFi. At most you can take control of the device but it won't get you onto the trusted network any faster than hacking their WiFi directly. Best to go for a device already on the network.

    Clent ,

I hope the ChatGPT and its siblings bring about the end of copyright. Unfortunately it's more likely we'll pervert the idea of personhood yet again and claim these things are people same as was done with corporations.

    Clent ,

All of the scenarios occur today. Every single one of them.

    You do see that, right?

    Artistry predates copyright law.

    Clent ,

I don't know what to tell you that could satisfy your internal struggle here. If you have a style worth stealing it will be stolen. Copyright doesn't protect that.

For what copyright does protect, it is only enforceable if you have the funds to protect it.

The system wasn't designed for people like you, it was literally designed during the same time in which only the wealthy were able to peruse art. It was created to protected monied interests, not the commoner.

If you expect to make a living on your art, you need to plan to collect earnings up front. Commissioned work is exactly that.

This idea that you're going to create some initial idea and then coast on it for life does not align with any reality.

Sometimes, if you create something new and interesting, you'll end up with a following and they will fund your endeavors but there will still be copycats and you either waste your life perusing that or spend your life perusing your art. You cannot do both. Paying someone else to peruse your "rights" doesn't change this equation, you'd be creating to fund the protection. Enforce it too hard and your fans will turn on you, as the original post here illustrates.

There is no winning move via copyright that leads to the land of riches. That's the problem. That's what copyright is bullshit.

It's not designed to protect us but so long as the monied interests can convince us otherwise, we'll go along with it like temporarily embarrassed millionaires. Always convinced if we'd play the game too, we could win.

The system is rigged and it's not in your favor. Whatever appears to favor you is a facade meant of not to keep you playing the game.

    Clent ,

    This explains everything.

    I don't drink coffee.

    Clent ,

Yes. This is called Nanny State.

Rather than educate the populace, take away the tools. Of course, another tool will just rise to the surface but it will make a lot of people feel really good that they did something.

I do appreciate all of the reactionary statements. I don't use TikTok but I do believe in freedom. Reducing freedoms, no matter how well intentioned does not solve societies problems.

    Clent ,

TikTok is one of hundreds of vectors to swindle the senile and I doubt it's even in the top 10.

Grandpa needs to have someone else handling his finances. It's not the governments job and let's not pretend this bill is about keeping grandpas money safe.

Those old POTS phone lines did carry a few volts.
