I got in an argument with a toaster and now I lost a bet and I’m here just to get my house back.

Maybe in some niche performance matrices. However they still are more expensive for the same performance. AMD is cheaper and same in terms of power.

GladiusB ,
@GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

This also doesn't just happen and is apparent. They probably spent way too much time trying to fix the problem before diverting to older ways while the problem is being diagnosed and fixed.

GladiusB ,
@GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

Probably because quoting them would be a preemptive death

GladiusB ,
@GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

Then it's his own damn fault. Even if he tries suing, he will lose.

    Good. Bring back limewire and leave me the fuck alone.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    With some things yes. But not all.

    I'm not saying it's a good parental choice. But the ban can help the kids.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    I'm a parent. YouTube is watched but you can see what they are watching.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    Yea. We do something similar. It's an electronic allowance. If you use it it's done for the day. I change it for rainy days and vacations if we are traveling in the car or whatever. But it's easy to set up with Google family. And then you can see what they are doing. Not to be snoopy. Just to teach them the right way to protect themselves online. I don't want them to turn 18 and be completely lost.

    My oldest is a gamer just like me. We hang out in discords. That's why I monitor him. It's not necessarily him or the friends I know about that worry me. It's the random pedo like people that can come from many games and many interactions.

    The youngest just watches silly videos and doesn't have a gaming bone in her body. So I just try to make it fair. Since they both need time away.

    I have it too, but I didn't duel boot with Linux Mint. I use the Mint more. I liked 10. But the graphics on Mint just looks better to me. Maybe because it doesn't hog resources like Windows.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    And people think Linux is complicated...

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    Mint. But 10 is still there because I'm pragmatic. And I have some blender renders I haven't transferred over yet.

    Any state that supports a law enforcement that DOESN'T see children dying in a building tells me right away what they are about. Udalve spoke so much to their character and how it was handled after. Just deplorable. I have friends that left the state after the abortion ban because they are women. So, yea. They got issues down there.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    On steam? With wine on Proton I run Helldiver 2 out of the box. Same with Elden Ring and many other titles. The only ones that have given me issues is Epic. Which really isn't a loss lately.

    Someone mentioned while I was gaming yesterday and we were discussing Windows 11 and he said "just get an add blocker" and it blew my mind. Like why support a company that thinks "this" is the future? When there are alternatives.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    And the fact that "their own voice" is banned in China itself. What a bunch of bullshit.

    Windows 11 Start menu ads are now rolling out to everyone (www.theverge.com)

    Microsoft is starting to enable ads inside the Start menu on Windows 11 for all users. After testing these briefly with Windows Insiders earlier this month, Microsoft has started to distribute update KB5036980 to Windows 11 users this week, which includes “recommendations” for apps from the Microsoft Store in the Start menu....

    Where did you come up with that figure? I have two PCs and they have two separate licenses. One is custom built and the other was prebuilt.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    The launchers work. The games do not. But plenty of games are going that way.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    So you guessed? You don't have any kind of way of confirming that figure? I see 37% from some studies. Microsoft itself has monetary estimates but no percentages of stolen software.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    But how did you figure out that number. You don't know everyone on Earth. What websites or facts did you use to throw together an assumption that so many people use with pirated gear?

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    And 9 cameras you have to consent to using. Total and utter crap.

    California has had it's share of rain too

    Someone will step in and pick up the ashes. Question is will it be a company or the government.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    I wouldn't think the government itself would intervene. But possibly a government assigned entity so all those owners aren't left high and dry.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    I don't see how this matters to the common user. Why am I going to disagree with Discord enough to sue them. What services do they provide other than a way to communicate for gamers?

    Are companies involved? Yes. But I'm not a company and I don't really care if they have a hard time dealing with it. They replaced Teamspeak and I will use it as a platform to communicate. If that changes I might change my stance, but I don't see any other need for it.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    I hear you. I'm not discounting that these could happen. But how likely is it for my usage? Or most people's usage? My kid is on discord and it's monitored and we use it for gaming. That is what I am led to believe most use it for.

    I guess my point is I don't see a scenario for suing Discord itself. They are just the vessel I use to communicate with. I use it constantly. I just don't care. There has never been a time I give out enough information to worry about it.

    If there are other scenarios, sure. But it sounds like more of a liability clause for companies that join Discord than individuals.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    No it's not. The government is a completely different entity than a company. It's structure is different and it's motivation is different. How it implements everything is completely different. If a company says "you can only take us to arbitration" and all I am using it for is to communicate anonymously to other gamers it is not the same as someone knowing everything and going through all my shit.

    It's like a company saying you can't sue if you use a can opener with a pop top cap. It doesn't apply to me. I also don't see how it applies to their user base.

    But I know no one has given me any scenario that actual users have encountered when Discord was being sued and it turned the tide. I'll just you guys disagree with me.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    Maybe it won't be. I don't see the situation coming up often. In fact I think this might make them more prone to being sued.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    What data? The fake email I made up with a made up name to play a game they don't know much about? I don't understand how this applies.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    Where is that happening? The claim is that you have to go to arbitration rather than court. Nothing says that their information is anywhere other than discord.

    And if your question is that my kid is giving out information, he's not. I look at all his messages and he is fully aware from coaching with my friends and family to not give any sensitive information out to anyone under any circumstances.

    He uses to game. Just as I do.

    I have had a beard for years and shaved it awhile ago. Same thing. Goes away in a few days in the sun for me.

    I have never had this issue on Mint/Windows duel boot

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    I have been running it for at least 6 months if not longer. So , I think that's a valid sample size

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    I do update both OSes routinely

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar
    1. 11 is crap and I will never upgrade. I only keep 10 because it's a duel boot and I don't want to reload everything. I guess I could partition a second Linux drive. But I occasionally like to mess around on Unreal 5 and create worlds.
    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    Nope it's a partitioned M2

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    This is dumb. Their whole argument is that "anyone can buy information". That's not the point. The point is they own the information. And the ownership matters A LOT.

    Who owns your information is the biggest scam on the people of our generation. Who owns the information for where you go and what you do can lead to so many problems. See Facebook and Google.

    They completely glaze over this and ignore it completely. That also doesn't account for what they could here if the microphone has access that isn't common knowledge.

    The writer has no idea what is going on.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    You don't know anything about me. You created this whole facade in your life. Not mine. You have zero clue of what social media I use, if any. And if I do, why.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    It is not hard. Just have a family app and you can set an allowance of total and for each app. Takes like 10 minutes to set up.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    Have you met a kid? Kids know more about tech st 2 than some adults. They can navigate devices very easily without reading. They just copy what they see.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    Either do I. But it's better to know what's going on and putting in the work. Your kids only benefit from it.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    I switched to Linux because of this. I'm sick of them pushing some OneDrive agenda. I want a personal computer. Not a cloud connection that a corporation has access to.

    GladiusB ,
    @GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

    Mint Virginia. It's easy distro to navigate. Has all the drivers. It's quick and simple.
