Wooo, wonderfully creepy

Ugh that just sounds gross on paper

Dude I'll join this effort. Recently moved here, can't find pics of how it used to look.

Didn't the guy who almost got ejected out of the 737 door plug fiasco attribute his survival to keeping his belt on? I mean that's enough reason for me by itself.

RubberElectrons , to Comic Strips in Elders [Alex Krokus]
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Nah, not business machines. I've made those last quite a while, even as an undergrad in engineering running simulations that were too heavy for what the machine could actually do.

Pro tip: need an impromptu white noise generator? Load up some COMSOL or Ansys.

@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

😉 on purpose, in fact

RubberElectrons , to 196 in voltage rule
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Sometimes it happens even below the arc breakdown voltage via air... Air molecules are slightly less dense along the surface of a smooth flat surface due to molecular 'bounce', so electrons creep along the lower density of a surface.

Hence, creepage on a PCB.

RubberElectrons , to 196 in voltage rule
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Never mind carbonizing the path it took along the PCB so future breakdown happen at much lower voltages 😑

PCBs: ✅ Fucked
Your shit: ✅ Also fucked
Your day: see above

OpenBSD's logo is the pufferfish, the all-consuming might of meta et al destroying the city that was the internet of the 90s, un/intentionally pursuing users of the few truly open source operating systems..

Dunno, there's quite a bit of metaphor cum realism in this mix. I appreciate the fuck out of it.

@pmjv Is there more of this stuff? These comics speak to the young me that grew up with the same textured aliased artwork, telling stories of individuals defeating megacities run by corporations. Beneath a steel sky, for ex.

That weird point in history where Linux/bsd/Unix got into some of the public's consciousness by their logos alone..

I really dig this

@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

If they're ok with the resulting technical shortfalls, cool. Another company degrades back into the mire of mediocrity.

@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

No music, I'm fucking forcing as much gasoline and/or electrons into the motor as the pedal will permit, while planning how to park a little bit away and sneak onto the property quietly.

Let's see who's got the better strategy, because questions will be answered.

RubberElectrons , to Technology in Qualcomm benchmarking controversy: What's happening?
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Spot on. What a terrible thing our company incentives have devolved into.
