TrickDacy ,

That's fucking stupid. What are you even doing in this community? It seems like you're completely against the idea of investing time. Gonna guess you are a fan of Windows

TrickDacy ,

Gimp needs fixing. It's definitely not beyond it. But sure go simp for Microsoft some more (yes I remember you from other threads)

TrickDacy ,

Couldn't understand you with the MS shaft in your gullet

TrickDacy ,

Apple being shit has been proven time and again. This is just the latest edition

TrickDacy ,

Long way of saying "I don't associate with any normies"

TrickDacy ,

Yes toward corporations who sell your data. Great move, big brains

TrickDacy ,

I find it funny how transparent everyone's pro apple bias is in threads like this. I'm proud to say fuck apple every chance I get because they say fuck users every chance they get. And yes I know because I have them probably $8000 over the course of 10 years or so. I was all in until the iPhone came out and they returned to the "proprietary is the business model" Apple roots.

They don't even try to embrace standards except in cases where it makes them money. Their entire mo is to erase the existence of standards if a buck can be made off of it. Apple being such anti consumer monopolistic pieces of shit being uncommonly recognized is pathetic and sad, and the perfect example of corporations being a negative influence on society.

There probably are people who died because they couldn't charge their phone and couldn't call an ambulance. And no I don't care about Apple's security theater or other talking points. All of it is bullshit

TrickDacy ,

Great point. I'm sure they're decrypting my rcs messages somehow and selling that data. And I'm sure your response here has nothing to do with riding apple wang

TrickDacy , (edited )

If Apple had been pressuring Google to implement the iMessage protocol

Lololol

Yes and if christians had been pressuring congregations to worship Satan that woulda been super upsetting too.

Edit: funny so many people are mad when you point out how absurd an argument is when it posits that a company might do the polar opposite of everything they stand for

TrickDacy ,

I trust my data with my ISP farrrrrr more than I do meta, and also I'm very unconvinced my ISP has access to anything at all here.

TrickDacy ,

Either that or condescending

TrickDacy ,

Yup okay. I'm sure I'm just making up the simpery because no one just loves apple and defends them endlessly, they're all stating neutral facts

TrickDacy ,

the things these people say are not comprehensive enough

Ftfy

TrickDacy ,

Simp.

TrickDacy ,

You are correct and the person you're responding to is wrong about just about everything they said. Funny to me they think mms is why those images look so shitty when no android users have ever experienced that without an ios device involved

TrickDacy , (edited )

Well yes exactly. I have noticed for years that every photo or video an iPhone sends me is worse quality than flip phones used to send/receive. Amazing to me that iPhone users fall for this trick

Like they missed that the whole apple MO is to make them feel superior without evidence

TrickDacy ,

Rcs is a new thing and not all android phones use it even now

Photos sent from iPhones look like shit today and they did years ago. Rcs is not a factor.

TrickDacy ,

The idea is to convince people that things only look good on iPhones

TrickDacy ,

I mean, it certainly has that effect. The in group "knows" your phone sucks and will shame you into getting an iPhone. That's the idea and it's probably worked millions of times.

TrickDacy , (edited )

I've literally experienced this first hand. At least three times I've been told that I should get an iPhone when I pointed this out. You're giving people way too much credit for being rational

Hey that video you sent me is tiny. I can't even tell what's going on

Dude when are you going to get an iPhone? iMessage works great. Janky Android phones can't even receive videos?

Wouldn't surprise me at all if they'd hired psychologists to figure out the best way to make conversations like that happen

TrickDacy ,

What would be terrifying about it?

TrickDacy ,

A government that hates ads as much as I do. Truly a nightmare scenario

TrickDacy ,

TIL it's better to withdraw Firefox from Russia completely than to comply with their shitty regulators

TrickDacy , (edited )

What, are the Russian police going to come to the US and arrest the CEO of Mozilla Corporation?

Not hard to predict that Russia would block Firefox downloads where possible from the Russian Internet. Did you really not consider that?

Edit: lack of response indicates you didn't because you didn't actually care about anything but faux outrage

TrickDacy ,

But enraged commenters without any idea how shit works don't agree. So there! /s

TrickDacy ,

This comment section is a great example of the Dunning-Kruger effect playing out in real time

TrickDacy ,

People like you don't care about unintended consequences. You don't even consider that they could exist

TrickDacy ,

It sure is. The less these fucks know, the more convinced they are that it's cut and dried and that they know everything

TrickDacy ,

I'm referring to Firefox being banned which they obviously would be. Since they would be choosing to be banned I said withdraw because I mistakenly thought people could figure out obvious consequences

TrickDacy ,

I don't pretend to know how the Russians do shit internally but we do know for sure they will censor things they want to if at all possible. The means to do it aren't all that important because they will find a way.

If Mozilla refused to comply, Russia would block Firefox from their Internet, thereby completing the monopoly status of chrome in Russia which is bad for a lot of reasons.

You can pretend to understand everything and that principles are more important than reality if you want though.

TrickDacy ,

I had one and returned it. The hardware was good but the software was total ass

TrickDacy , (edited )

I sank a ton of time trying to get several OSes running on it, including that one, with almost no luck. Out of the few that even did run, there were always piles of issues. You assumed I only meant the official OSes but I didn't.

TrickDacy ,

My guess is that I tried 6 or more OSes on it. Like 2 would run at all, and in every case there kept being a lot of issues. It felt like it was hardware no one cares about supporting except one dude who made a version of Ubuntu for it. The whole damned experience was janky AF.

Got a RPi 5 and was able to get Arch running on it and it feels faster despite being objectively slower than the OPi

TrickDacy ,

The bad faith always comes out of the woodwork every time there's a chance for a good old fashioned false equivalency

A PR disaster: Microsoft has lost trust with its users, and Windows Recall is the straw that broke the camel's back (www.windowscentral.com)

It's a nightmare scenario for Microsoft. The headlining feature of its new Copilot+ PC initiative, which is supposed to drive millions of PC sales over the next couple of years, is under significant fire for being what many say is a major breach of privacy and security on Windows. That feature in question is Windows Recall, a...

TrickDacy ,

Yes, always has been to my knowledge

TrickDacy ,

I agree most of this is fucked up, though I don't know what search results you mean. Also, I always find it funny that people refer to the Ubuntu pro thing as "ads". Yes it technically is, but it is a fuck ton less shitty than what we've come to know as ads in literally every other context. It's literally a couple lines of text about packages you can get premium updates and support for

TrickDacy ,

Pop os is fantastic

TrickDacy ,

2002 called, they want their Linux attitude back

TrickDacy ,

Haha I thought I recognized that username. The same person arguing with me that recall was a brilliant move which will solidify Microsoft as the industry leader they've always been 😂

TrickDacy ,

I am sure you're right about at least most of this but I will say my experience hasn't been very troublesome. Other than a driver issue I had after an update 2 years ago, I haven't had much trouble. Since I switched to an amd GPU especially, since gaming is much smoother. I had a lot worse issues when I used Elementary OS. Stuff broke a ton. For example, I had a weird graphical issue in Firefox for months.

TrickDacy ,

Yeah, desktops. I do think though that the Intel/Nvidia combo you have makes Linux in general a bit tougher than any setup more Linux friendly than that.

TrickDacy ,

nobody cares or believes it

I mean, this community exists because people care and believe it. But sure doom, gloom, etc

TrickDacy ,

Obviously they meant to the best of their ability. An air gapped device is clearly not what they wanted. If they did they wouldn't have asked.

TrickDacy ,

"while you can never eliminate all risk online, you can..." Is a pretty reasonable way to help without sounding like...whatever this is. Arrogance?
