It's kind of touching LLM companies are unlikely to outstand human creativity at it's worst. They just bought reddit datasets, and on reddit we saw many generations and kinds of open nazi empathisers going as far as creating 'clown world' communities where they used baby speak, were frens and felt terminally angry at 'nosy people'. And now Google still needs a lot of people to either exclude an excessive ammounts of keywords\combinations or sterilize their datasets. Good thing they can't just push the no-responsibility card and there is an outrage about copyrights and this shit. No one asked them to join that race, they get what they deserve.

If only. When I ask my friends and relatives it feels like the reach of alternatives to shitty resources is nearly non-existent. We shouldn't fool ourselves about their current popularity and promote their adoption in our peers ):

Many big accounts like politicians are slow to adopt it.

@andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works avatar

Probably because it was harvested long before they locked API. I suspect it's not a purchase but a way to legitimize the datasets already in the works since Reddit said they are now trading them. And our favorite CEO struggles to turn any profits, so he hardly had any leverage to ask for more.

@andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works avatar

Why not just official channels of information, e.g. White house Mastodon instance with politicians' accounts, government-hosted, auto-mirrored by third parties.

andrew_bidlaw , to Technology in Vision Pro EyeSight feature doesn't really work, argues Macworld
@andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works avatar

I think they were overly commited to that afterthought-idea and couldn't make it work in time. They did a lot of work doing a 3-angled led surface instead of a simple screen and just shipped what they've got at the time. That's probably why it's complicated to put there just any image not tailored to it without even more weirdness, artifacts - and Apple can't allow anything they haven't done themselves to hurt their public image. And from the photoes of it's insides, it looks like without that thing these googles could've been at least $500 cheaper.

@andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yes, and I used one. But in Nokia days it was mostly work related. You didn't usually stumble upon that many persons talking to air in public. Now writing voice messages and chatting via headset is way more normalised.

Here AR is a push to normalize VR in different settings where you need to pay attention to what's outside your googles. Even in social ones - that's why they tried these eyes on the surface. I'm sceptical some would wear them daily while doing chores, but I was also sceptical about people casually talking to their BT airpods on the street.

Why even use AI? Mocap + features reconstructed from some photo + your acting under that mask + one spam call to steal voice sample + pitch shifter to slightly modify your voice. We have fucking Hololive where vtubers are anime girls streaming in real time. If it means at least $1 mil, you can find the right people to do a good deepfake under a budget. And they won't probably use LLM if they worth employment as it's unreliable and, as you said, needs training data, needs processing power, time etc. You'd be surprised how many things people do as shitposts in AE and Blender. Making Biden say an N-word to Obama is easier than you think when you know who to ask.

It's not an LLM problem, it's their stupid security, verification processes and this person be a gullible idiot.

Thank you for the additional read. I always wondered if I could do something like that. Just for the sake of it, with research, dreasing, acting and managing the right speech\behavior patterns to calm down their alerts. I'd honestly buy a game about that, like a reverse LA Noire. I think many millenials and zoomers would love to play-pretend they aren't themselves for a moment, see the popularity of Mafia in their generation at least in x-USSR: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_(party_game)

andrew_bidlaw , to linuxmemes in Is there something you lack in Wayland but have in xorg?
@andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works avatar

I learnt some things reading you, thank you. As a newbie to Linux I'm not the one to argue anything. But I had an urge to shitpost, and my last sentence comes from an abbreviature of XFCE and references both Wayland and X11. I'm an artist more than I'm a thinker.
