With anti-libre software, we are not users, we are used.

Another classic lie. 'Open source' misses the point of libre software. Anti-libre software [malware] bans us [everyone else] from removing malicious source code.

autonomoususer , (edited )

check every line ... yourself.

🚩🚩🚩

A very classic lie, disinformation, used to spread anti-libre software. Anti-libre software bans us, not only me but everyone else, from removing malicious source code.

autonomoususer ,

'Open source' misses the point of libre software.

autonomoususer , (edited )

Libre software and more decentralised than Signal but less than SimpleX.

autonomoususer ,

Good defaults help spread libre software, privacy.

autonomoususer ,

WARNING Windows Security, Avast, Malwarebytes, anti-libre software bans us from removing malicous source code. Don't let this malware infect you.

autonomoususer , (edited )

Libre software, WordPress, can't bans us from removing malicous source code. Medium is service as a software substitute. If you don't want AI reading your text, don't share it.

autonomoususer ,

Firefox is 64-bit now, so there is no point in Waterfox.

What cloud vps server host do I use?

What cloud VPS host is the best for privacy and security? I want to self host stuff for myself some tools. Mental Outlaw make a video last year about self hosting your own VPN with a service called Vultr but back in December vultr added to their TOS that they own what you host and a bunch of other scary stuff. So I don't trust...

autonomoususer , (edited )

Run a home server and VPN to it through a VPS if needed, so they see nothing. E2EE everything.

Microsoft starts bundling Windows 11 with its 'PC optimizer' app in some regions (www.neowin.net)

PC optimizers are not a new concept, and they have been around for quite a while. Nowadays, many consider them unnecessary, but having an official program made by Microsoft that is capable of (allegedly) speeding up your PC may sound quite appealing....

autonomoususer ,

Remove anti-libre software, Windows, to optimise infected devices.

autonomoususer ,

Windows is malware, anti-libre software.

autonomoususer , (edited )

Or we could not infect our devices with anti-libre software. Don't beg them.

autonomoususer ,

'Antivirus' is a cope. Anti-libre software bans us from removing malicous source code.

autonomoususer , (edited )

Only possible with anti-libre software, never nice.

autonomoususer ,

Wrong, anti-libre software, WhatsApp, bans us from proving it's claims (E2EE claims lies), bans us from removing malicous source code. It is vulerable hostile by design.

autonomoususer ,

We can't prove what they do on their devices. We encrypt.

autonomoususer , (edited )

Spreading libre software will bring more privacy than micromanaging browser config ever will. Report issues to get defaults fixed and don't waste your life reinventing.

autonomoususer , (edited )

One of two classic excuses, virtue signalling to hijack control of our devices, our computing, an attack on libre software (they don't care about CP). Next, they'll be banning more math, encryption, again.

It says gullible at the start of this page, scroll up and see.

Use Tor. Centralised services are easy to attack.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

    Searx, AGPL, libre software

    autonomoususer ,

    stuff to disable it

False. Anti-libre software, Windows, bans us from proving its claims.

    autonomoususer ,

With anti-libre software, we are not the user, we are the used.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

Only works because these cars come infected with anti-libre software by design (bans us from removing malicious source code) because people don't see this attack. Target anti-libre multiplayer software, file formats (Microsoft Office/Photoshop), socials (YouTube -> NewPipe) and chat (WhatsApp/Discord). This is the best ROI to create openings to blackpill normies on anti-libre software.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

Yes, laws don't work, libre software does.

Coming to terms with no longer having privacy and control over my technology

I miss the days of VHS and DVD shelfs in homes, for example. If you bought the tapes and had them in your home, no corporate entity could alter those tapes without your consent, monitor how many times you watch them, sell your data to whomever they please without your knowledge, roll out new mandatory conditions to a 'user...

    autonomoususer ,

Offline anti-libre software still bans us from removing malicious source code.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

I swore I’d never pay for a video game again

    The libre software too?

go back to investing more time, money, and energy into things that aren’t connected to the internet

They'll obviously win when we run away. We should take the fight to them.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

Target Discord first. Games are non-essentials. Discord is a tool, beyond any one game, used beyond gaming. Don't destroy your influence, don't leave the conversation, don't leave Steam just yet but use it strategically (and GOG Galaxy isn't even for Linux).

Tech savvy people aren't going to come and join our friends and join our family. For libre software by default, we must act.

    autonomoususer ,

    It exposes their priorities.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

GOG spreads anti-libre software, like Steam, but do they contribute to libre operating system software?

    autonomoususer , (edited )

claiming it has ties Which lines of its libre software source code are malicious?

    autonomoususer ,

bashes XMPP for no real reason .

    This is a lie.

The whole area of XMPP vs Matrix is quite subjective. Rather than fighting over which open interoperable communication standard works the best, we should just collaborate and bridge everything together. The more federation and interoperability the better.

    https://matrix.org/docs/older/faq/

    autonomoususer ,

    Use the Docker container.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

Same guy shilled anti-libre software and we should let them stop us thinking for ourselves?

    autonomoususer ,

Because we keeping saying Signal and Telegram instead of Anti-Libre Software, Service as a Software Substitute, and Centralised.

We should reach them in their spaces, moding, hacking, piracy and beginner programming channels.

asking because it’s not possible to post anonymously (each individual post being anonymous without your username visible)

I would like to post freely about my hobbies and such without worrying about AI fingerprinting me from all my posts, and we know in the future AI will be very good at this.

Hiding your username won't hide the way you write.

    autonomoususer ,

    They're asking for both.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

    is a double-edged sword.

We can't stop 4chan acting maliciously. It's SaaSS. We don't control it.

    autonomoususer ,

    Ah, thank you for clarifying.

    autonomoususer ,

Same is said for email, XMPP, Matrix, ActivityPub, torrent, Tor, IPFS, Blockchain and anything else hard to hijack, classic disinformation strategy.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

Reinforcing it. Often disinformation will use one vulnerability to justify regressing to something with more vulnerabilities.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

Telegram is Service as a Software Substitute (proof app needs service and we are missing server software for it: broken app).

    autonomoususer ,

Anti-libre software, WhatsApp, bans us from proving it has E2EE, bans us from proving any of its claims and bans us from removing malicious source code.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

Yes, app does not work without service and we are missing server software to serve this service it needs: broken app. Threema is SaaSS.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

'Open source' misses the point of libre software.
