With anti-libre software, we are not users, we are used.

They can never be more toxic than propietary software.

This kind of reply is never convincing so, rather than promote proprietary software, here's the real answer:

You are likely not hired to remove Windows, so why give them extra work for free?

Are there any guides, tutorials or similar on how to use Steam more privately?

I'm at a point where I'd like to play certain games, but I dislike that they're exclusively available on consoles and Steam for Desktop. Steam's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service raise concerns about my personal security and privacy. I'm looking for advice on how to improve my privacy while using Steam....

autonomoususer , (edited )

Use Tor Browser. Don't waste your life on micro-optimisation. You will get a lot more privacy with stuff like getting all your friends on Signal/SimpleX, etc.

autonomoususer ,

Yeah, edited.

autonomoususer ,

Local or service as a software substitute?

autonomoususer , (edited )

They spend more on this than saying the US kills its own people.

autonomoususer , (edited )

Do they really think this hides the US kills its own people but they call him the traitor?

autonomoususer , (edited )

Like you would do any better.

autonomoususer ,

Who wrote an essay complaining?

autonomoususer ,

Disinformation, stop trying to brainwash us. Again, when have you ever exposed a US war crime?

autonomoususer , (edited )

Who commented first? Stop trolling.

autonomoususer , (edited )

You won't distract us.

autonomoususer , (edited )

No ones begging for your attention.

autonomoususer ,

Agreed, it's everywhere on these political posts.

Fraud news will never say block Reddit, Instagram or Discord.

Adobe's Employees Are Just As Upset at the Company As Its Users: Report (petapixel.com)

Adobe’s employees are typically of the same opinion of the company as its users, having internally already expressed concern that AI could kill the jobs of their customers. That continued this week in internal discussions, where exasperated employees implored leadership to not let it be the “evil” company customers think...

autonomoususer ,

They control it, not us. It fails to include a libre software license text file. Some people never learn. 🤡

autonomoususer , (edited )

Anything to cover up US backdoors in our devices. The fraud news only gets more brazen.

Adobe made a small change to its terms and conditions and that made its users very, very unhappy — scrutinizing data to find illegal content is a risky move (www.techradar.com)

Adobe recently updated its terms of use, and although companies do this all the time, these new changes have sparked a significant amount of discord and discussion among users....

autonomoususer , (edited )

They control it, not us. It fails to include a libre software license text file, so what did you expect? 🤡🤡🤡

autonomoususer , (edited )

We don't control macOS, iOS, anti-libre software (it fails to include a libre software license text file, like AGPL), so it's never private, secure or reliable. A great example of dangers to avoid. That's why I like it. 🚩

autonomoususer ,

And dog shit isn't cat shit but I still won't eat that.

autonomoususer , (edited )

Cope

autonomoususer ,

Obviously, which 🤡 had to wait for him to tell them?

autonomoususer ,

Do they really think we believe any of their lies? We don't control macOS, iOS, anti-libre software (it fails to include a libre software license text file, like AGPL). Dangerous! 🚩

autonomoususer , (edited )

They control it, not us. It's anti-libre, dangerous.

autonomoususer ,

macOS is proprietary.

autonomoususer ,

Do they really think we believe any of their lies? We don't control Windows, anti-libre software (it fails to include a libre software license text file, like AGPL). Dangerous! 🚩

autonomoususer , (edited )

We still have no legal right to use, change and share its source code, control it both ourselves and in groups. It's still anti-libre software.

autonomoususer , (edited )

I also hate making things from smaller pieces, the engineering in software engineering. /s

autonomoususer ,

They only exist when we keep them relevant and we already know we can't prove it's private but if it helps some people, that's good.

Watch: Adobe angers artists with new Photoshop terms (techcrunch.com)

Artists got an unpleasant surprise when they opened Photoshop this week, as they were shown a pop-up window asking them to agree to new terms of service. Among the changes: Adobe now says it has the right to access customers’ content through “automated or manual methods.”...

autonomoususer ,

Adobe can only do this because it's anti-libre software, we don't control it. Next time, check the software doesn't fail to come with a libre software license text file, like AGPL.

Which lines of its libre software source code are malicious?

    autonomoususer ,

    A libre software license.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

    So, what should we use?

    autonomoususer , (edited )
    • SimpleX is libre software and the most decentralised voice chat here.
    • Briar is libre and the most decentralised but is missing voice chat.
    • XMPP and Matrix are libre software and federated/decentralised. XMPP servers use far less resources, so creates more decentralisation than Matrix in practice.
    • Signal is libre and more popular but centralised, acceptable.
    • Avoid Threema's app which requires a service as a software substitute.

    Thanks, updated!

    autonomoususer , (edited )

My friends knew I was using it. I said why with very simple words, focused on freedom and abuse over side effects, privacy and security, and they joined. I guess having friends who actually respect you helps a lot.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

No, that's a cope. They just have to include the correct software license text file, like AGPL, when they send us the software.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

I don't see how we can prove this. Paying them to also spy on us is bad but allowing them replace our software c/localllama with their service is even worse. My funds are better spent on local AI development or device upgrade.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

Yes, it does the same with less control, privacy.

    autonomoususer ,

We can't prove this. When they get a copy, nothing will bring our data back.

A social app for creatives, Cara grew from 40k to 650k users in a week because artists are fed up with Meta’s AI policies | TechCrunch (techcrunch.com)

Artists have finally had enough with Meta’s predatory AI policies, but Meta’s loss is Cara’s gain. An artist-run, anti-AI social platform, Cara has grown from 40,000 to 650,000 users within the last week, catapulting it to the top of the App Store charts....

    autonomoususer ,

    Maybe yours does.

    autonomoususer , (edited )

Thanks, they can web search it. Not saying 'source code' give attackers too much space. Feedback is welcome.

    autonomoususer ,

    Excellent comment, bookmarked, thank you!
