I've been listening to it in my car over the last few weeks. I'm really enjoying it so far.

I will stay motivated for only $45 billion.

five82 , to Technology in 'Google Cast' is replacing the 'Chromecast built-in' brand
@five82@lemmy.world avatar

I'm not defending Google but I think the change is just an admission that the old "Chromecast" branding is outdated. It wouldn't surprise me if less than 5% of users still regularly cast from a desktop browser.

five82 , to Technology in Linus Tech Tips (LTT) release investigation results on former accusations
@five82@lemmy.world avatar

You don't need to admit anything. Settle the matter confidentially without an admission of guilt. If you are asked, say that it was an HR matter that you are not allowed to discuss.

Then you can be less guarded about the investigation findings in your statement and you don't have to worry about defamation and a potential lawsuit that could further damage your reputation.

@five82@lemmy.world avatar

I don't understand why LTT wouldn't negotiate a settlement first with the accuser in exchange for a nondisclosure and non-disparagement agreement before releasing any statement. You could view their posturing as defiance.

five82 , to Technology in STATEMENT from Google workers with the No Tech for Apartheid campaign on Google’s mass, retaliatory…
@five82@lemmy.world avatar

They ditched the motto but it’s still in Google’s code of conduct. Not that it makes any difference at this point.

five82 , to Jellyfin: The Free Software Media System in Removing unwanted audio tracks and subs
@five82@lemmy.world avatar

It didn’t when I last used it. But that was also years ago. The Handbrake devs were pretty adamant back then about not adding remuxing.

five82 , (edited ) to Jellyfin: The Free Software Media System in Removing unwanted audio tracks and subs
@five82@lemmy.world avatar

If you just want to remove audio and subtitle tracks, don’t use Handbrake. That will re-encode your video which will result in quality loss. Use MKVToolNix or FFmpeg to remux instead and only remove the tracks you don’t want.

Remuxing is also much faster and less cpu intensive than re-encoding.

five82 , to Technology in Steam is a ticking time bomb
@five82@lemmy.world avatar

Let me rephrase that. I think it’s more likely that Valve will not sell to the highest bidder and will stay private. Their ability to control their own destiny has driven their success.

five82 , to Technology in Steam is a ticking time bomb
@five82@lemmy.world avatar

Do you really think it’s just going to be sold off? One of Valve’s biggest strengths is its ability to remain an independent private company. I would hope that Gabe’s succession plan doesn’t change that.
