kat_angstrom , to Mildly Infuriating in Best Buy Membership "discount"

Omg they raised the original price to create some puny "savings"? That's scammy AF

kat_angstrom , to Technology in Humane AI Pin is a disaster: Founders already want to sell the company

Nerds still are smarter than us.

Unfortunately a cult of managers has arisen to rule over the nerds and they hype with an iron fist.

kat_angstrom , to Technology in Slack has been scanning your messages to train its AI models

Always have been, apparently

kat_angstrom , to Technology in ‘Quantum internet’ demonstration in cities is most advanced yet

Great deal. Thanks, marketing!

kat_angstrom , to Technology in Google Accidentally Deleted $125 Billion Pension Fund's Account

Yeah, this has definitely happened before, we just don't hear about it in the news. I am personally aware of a Canadian non-profit whose Google accounts were nuked with no notice or explanation last year, leading to massive disruptions for 150 staff and even more clients. They never found out why, and had to restore from backups onto a brand new Google business account

kat_angstrom , to Technology in Microsoft Places uses AI to find the best time for your next office day

This helps nobody, and whoever thinks it's a good idea needs better time management skills.

kat_angstrom , to Technology in Ordered back to the office, top tech talent left instead, study finds

Most of the VPs in my local Corpo are all politicians. They speak in buzzwords and value hearing themselves speak over hearing any feedback from people lower than them in the hierarchy. The disconnection between upper management and everyone else is greater than it's ever been and it's only getting worse.

kat_angstrom , to Technology in Google employees question execs over 'decline in morale' after blowout earnings

If it's like a lot of other tech companies, likely this was posted in a questions thread during a large meeting, and while everyone can see the questions being posed, Execs pick and choose which questions they're interested in answering, ignoring the ones they don't like. It's a good way of determining employee morale while avoiding all accountability.

kat_angstrom , to Technology in For 'Cheap' Labour, Google Fires Its Entire Python Team: Report

But what percentage of fake birds are real fake birds?

kat_angstrom , to Technology in Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving linked to hundreds of crashes, dozens of deaths

I've never heard of anyone screaming because they had to scan their own groceries at a self-checkout. Is this a common thing?

kat_angstrom , to 196 in ruling the same food

What if that food is extremely well-balanced in terms of nutrients?

kat_angstrom , to Technology in Roku explores taking over HDMI feeds with ads

For consumers, "enshitification" is a reminder of how things get worse. For companies, apparently it's a delightfully new lower bar to aspire to. This is some Darkest Timeline kinda BS

kat_angstrom , to Technology in Microsoft is working on an Xbox AI chatbot

Ewwwwwwww

kat_angstrom , to Technology in AI hustlers stole women’s faces to put in ads. The law can’t help them.

It's simple, then:

We ban ads. All ads, everywhere.

kat_angstrom , to Mildly Infuriating in My half-Jewish daughter tried matzo for the first time today. Egg and onion. The best kind of matzo. She declared it "just okay."

Kids + Culture aren't always a good combination, I know my brother and I hated the cultural things we were told and taught up until our early teens when we started to understand it's important.

Might have to wait a few more years before she'll actually start to understand why it's important to you.
