mfat OP ,

It's an http service running on my home server (running openwrt and docker).

SSH and VPN are either blocked or heavily throttled where i live.

mfat OP ,

FRP is fine but the https certificate part is not easy/automated.

‘My whole library is wiped out’: what it means to own movies and TV in the age of streaming services (www.theguardian.com)

*What rights do you have to the digital movies, TV shows and music you buy online? That question was on the minds of Telstra TV Box Office customers this month after the company announced it would shut down the service in June. Customers were told that unless they moved over to another service, Fetch, they would no longer be...

mfat OP ,

Sorry i should have said i wanted a server not a client.

mfat OP ,

Thanks but I don't seem to get the point of these proxies. What do they do exactly? Can you give me an example please?

mfat OP ,

No i just imported an m3u into jellyfin.

mfat OP ,

Thank you very much my question is should npm be installed on my VPS or my local server? What SSH command should I use to connect the two machines in a way that npm works?

mfat OP ,

Thanks for the detailed reply. But I'm still confused. Do I need a separate ssh tunnel for every single service I run on my local server?

mfat OP ,

It's easily detected by firewalls in China and Iran.

mfat OP ,

I don't want to remember port numbers. I'm trying to give each service its own subdomain.

mfat OP ,

Thanks I understand the theory behind this but I can't get it to work.

I have a jellyfin.mydomain.com subdomain pointing at my VPS ip.
On my home server I have Nginx Proxy Manager listening to 192.168.8.1:8998 (http) and 8999 (https)
From my home server I forward port 80 from the VPS to local port 8999 like this:

ssh -R 80:127.0.0.1:8998 root@vps-ip

Then on npm I define a proxy to localhost:8096 (jellyfin) for any traffic sent to jellyfinn.mydomain.com.

But I can't access jellyfin remotely.

mfat OP ,

Caddy was exactly what i needed. It magically solved the problem..

Wireguard is blocked at protocol level no matter which port you use. Tailsclale uses wireguard. Haven't tried headscale yet.

mfat ,

It's a solid release. The only thing that broke were some plasma widgets not yet available for KDE 6.

mfat OP ,

This is the case unfortunately. They are blocked at protocol level.

mfat OP , (edited )

No they are blocked at protocol level no matter which port you use.

mfat OP ,

Yes I can SSH to my US vps. I'll give this a try thank you.

Tor only works with Snowflake bridges and the speed is very low.

mfat OP ,

Shadowsocks is deprecated and doesn't work anymore.

Wondering which YouTube channels are worth archiving.

Looking for a REALLY simple video editor for win10, nothing fancy please! [E: already solved. Amazing, thanks!] (kbin.social)

Windows Movie Maker used to be good enough, but for a while now it won't load mp4's anymore and I can't be bothered to try and fix it, and I'm really hating the online editors I've tried, so it's time to download some software!...

mfat ,

Shotcut is amazing I still use it for work on a daily basis.

mfat OP ,

This is very close to what I'm looking for. I really liked the app store part. I'll surely give it a try.

are shotcut and kdenlive any good video editors? just curious

i thought this question could fit here as this is a community about open source software after all, anyways.. i was gonna do editing for the first time and wanted to use something that's free and open source, i was considering either shotcut or kdenlive but i wanted to at least hear the community's opinion about it, i'll be...

mfat ,

I use Shotcut for work, although we have a Premier Pro subscription. It's perfect for my needs. We cut simple edits with no effects. I just occasionally need to be able to adjust volume and change video size / aspect ratio. Shotcut is perfect for my needs.

mfat ,

This. Self-hosting doesn't need to be a nerd thing.
