You aren't wrong, but also it directly impacts the company reputation. Doing it as absolute crap as they did hurts them. Not the whole industry, because looks what's happened since, the charging standards in USA went from CCS to nacs, all the manufacturers switched to using Tesla network which, checks notes is your direct competition.

Which to me is also a failure. Everyone knows the Tesla network is Tesla. And it's hands down, better. People use Electrify America and have a bad experience (myself included) and they get mad at it. Even if they don't know it's tied to vw.

YouTubers and journalist talk about it and tie it to vw and suddenly your enthusiasts are panning vw for their garbage network.

It's a lose lose for Volkswagen the way they did this.

I just installed fedora 40. Was absolutely amazed when my three monitors just worked. Installed some games and realized I had forgotten to install the Nvidia drivers. Installed them... Laptop locked up wouldn't boot. Unplugged the third monitor and it started working. Screw Nvidia. Not buying another system with their trash. Fix your driver's you selfish POS

A suggestion for everyone that's kinda new, and to be honest, grizzled vets too... Use chatgpt as a trouble shooting tool. It's really surprising how good it is sometimes. I've had it write bash scripts in minutes, solve obscure Firefox issues, fix game settings for barely compatible games... So many things

Being honest here, I have a car with android auto and I hate having to plug it in for a variety of reasons.

  1. I just want to get in and drive, the music should just play and all the stuff should just get out of the way.

  2. I don't want to charge my phone every time I drive my car, it's not necessary and can be hard on the battery

  3. This is doubly important for an EV, I don't want to waste EV power charging a phone that doesn't need charging

My opinion, Phone OS makers need to get their shit together around android auto / apple carplay. Too much nonsense gets in the way of all the actually important pieces. When you get in a car with only a radio, the music just starts playing when you get in. Which means, your experience is better with old tech. That's just ridiculous.

I personally think a better idea is to just start equipping cars with cell modems that you add to your plan or something. There is no need to offload this work to your cellphone when the car has more physical space for that kind of thing anyway. I mean tesla's just have a borderline gaming computer in them these days.

Where I live, this is changing already. I suspect it comes down to your lawmakers and how you vote more than landlords. Landlords will never do something unless it makes them easy money. Though, ev chargers can be profitable, so maybe they are just dumb.

You don't need one for every condo. Though that would be awesome. It's not like you need to charge every day.

Gaming on Linux is pretty legit now. I don't even boot into windows very often. In recent memory, only one AAA game didn't work out of the box for me that required booting into windows.
