You have to wonder just how much the Palestinians of Hamas is willing to let the other Palestinians suffer and die.

Such a low effort way to reduce payroll. It actually made me laugh. The position of "People Manager" has to come in to work, but I didn't see a mention of the managed. So the people manager can be at home, working remotely with their team, or they can be on site...working remotely with their team? I wonder how many years it's going to take for corporate American to realize times have changed. Or for some organized crackdown from the other side.

I don't care if the facial recognition worked exactly as it was supposed to, with 100% accuracy (I know, we are in fantasy land here, but stay with this hypothetical), WTF? Nobody in jail deserves that. Also I'm thinking, does everyone who goes to that jail get beat up and gang raped? It just makes news if it's the "wrong" guy?

Doesn't look like they want much to do with libre software or end users. They're trying to make their money selling to OEMs. I agree with your first sentence 100%.

Says much less about innate violence in humans than our self-suffocating breeding issue.

Malthus

I don't know how I've never heard of Malthus (or more likely at my age, just completely forgotten). As far as I can glean from my superficial perusal of his works, he seems to focus on human population vs quality of life. Dated, but I would think still a valid path of inquiry.

When I mentioned our "self-suffocating breeding issue", I was thinking primarily of the ongoing ecological collapse and climate change caused by the impact and mere existence of billions of humans.

Someone explain this rule to me please? I don't know how she is, and Democratic Socialism most definitely isn't anticapitalist.

That dude annoys me so much, but his content is usually pretty good. Great points on the different air bag systems.

I don't know exactly. His delivery I guess. He seems like someone I would absolutely never want to hang out with. But his videos, the ones I've seen over the years, have had solid content.

I've had it happen to me for a week or two now. US based. I always just figure if a site doesn't work with my blockers, then I really don't need to see it.

It was such a weird turn when trump got people to think CNN was lefty. Just bizarro world.

Elon Musk demands another huge payday from Tesla (www.cnn.com)

In a series of posts on X Monday night, Musk said that he would not want to grow Tesla to become a leader in artificial intelligence and robotics without a compensation plan that would give him ownership of around 25% of the company’s stock. That would be about double the roughly 13% stake he currently owns....

Once the other care companies started making electrics, I wondered why anyone was still going with Tesla. Car companies have so many more decades of taking care of build issues.

You rarely see any thing else from that speech. If they'd just show even the part right after the "ask not" part it would help.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

-JFK Inaugural Address, January 20, 1961

“The works of the roots of the vines, of the trees, must be destroyed to keep up the price, and this is the saddest, bitterest thing of all. Carloads of oranges dumped on the ground. The people came for miles to take the fruit, but this could not be. How would they buy oranges at twenty cents a dozen if they could drive out and pick them up? And men with hoses squirt kerosene on the oranges, and they are angry at the crime, angry at the people who have come to take the fruit. A million people hungry, needing the fruit- and kerosene sprayed over the golden mountains. And the smell of rot fills the country. Burn coffee for fuel in the ships. Burn corn to keep warm, it makes a hot fire. Dump potatoes in the rivers and place guards along the banks to keep the hungry people from fishing them out. Slaughter the pigs and bury them, and let the putrescence drip down into the earth.

There is a crime here that goes beyond denunciation. There is a sorrow here that weeping cannot symbolize. There is a failure here that topples all our success. The fertile earth, the straight tree rows, the sturdy trunks, and the ripe fruit. And children dying of pellagra must die because a profit cannot be taken from an orange. And coroners must fill in the certificate- died of malnutrition- because the food must rot, must be forced to rot. The people come with nets to fish for potatoes in the river, and the guards hold them back; they come in rattling cars to get the dumped oranges, but the kerosene is sprayed. And they stand still and watch the potatoes float by, listen to the screaming pigs being killed in a ditch and covered with quick-lime, watch the mountains of oranges slop down to a putrefying ooze; and in the eyes of the people there is the failure; and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage.”
― John Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath

According to the corporation, just one of these turbines should be able to produce enough electricity to power 36,000 households of three people each for one year.

These types of statements always trip me up. Why one year? If it's producing that amount of energy in that same year, shouldn't it just be "...power 36,000 households of three people."?
