sintrenton , to Privacy in 42 key points of the secret #EUGoingDark surveillance plan for the new EU Commission

Don't assume that the European commissioners and their staffs know what they are doing or understand these matters. The depth of their collected knowledge could easily be documented in a single Powerpoint. And with not too many slides. And Ylva Johansson is well known for being both ignorant and utterly manipulated by lobbyists.

sintrenton , to Privacy in Best browser tweaks for privacy?

+1 on that. LibreWolf, use the compartments feature and clean cookies and history every time you close the browser. And you come a long way.

sintrenton , to Privacy in What privacy friendly app/service/stuff makes your life simpler?

Two I use a lot daily are
KeePass 2 in various versions, computer as well as tablet. I used KeePass "original" 1 for years, but moved to 2/XC/DX. Occasionally also used for storing notes and not just passwords.

My notetaker, all hands down, though. Joplin, with encryption activated, the file stored for syncing on my privacy oriented community's encrypted NextCloud. I am an avid notetaker, both digital and analogue, and Joplin really fits my needs.

OK, third, honourable mention: Veracrypt

sintrenton , to Privacy in Don't plug random stuff into a computer to charge

Exactly. Which is why I have old fashioned earbuds with cable, and the moment I start travelling, I turn off my WiFi and if checking nail or messaging, I activate my sim card in the tablet.

sintrenton , to Privacy in Don't plug random stuff into a computer to charge

I never charge my phone directly in public places. Instead I charge a simple powerbank I have, that then charges the phone. No idea how easy it is for that one to "be contaminated and carry something over", but being simple, basically no features, just charging and a Led indicator, I suspect the chances are at least a lot less.

sintrenton , to Privacy in Best lemmy android app?

As some others, I use Jerboa. Tried a few others, but happy with it.

sintrenton , to Privacy in I made a spreadsheet that ranks messengers for privacy

Not sure, but I couldn't find Tox (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tox_(protocol)) anywhere?
