No, that is not true. That states sell bonds is a self-imposed rule.

As long as a state collects its taxes in its own currency there will be demand for that currency.

Public sector debt is private sector surplus.

Yes! This is the very essence of our monetary system that nobody seems to understand.

@sockenklaus@sh.itjust.works avatar

They seemed to think that tax revenue in some way has to happen for spending to happen.

Noo!

But the federal government creates money ex nihilo.

Yes!

Money has to be created before it can be destroyed through taxation.

Yes!!

We do not rely on the money of the wealthy. What matters is actual, real resources and services we can provide.

Yes, yes and yes!! ❤️

Thanks for your concise explanation of MMT! I wouldn't be able to phrase it this well. ❤️

Then stop selling bonds and start investing directly (build schools, repair bridges, pay your employees, etc.).

Countries don't have to take the detour through state bonds because they can make money out of thin air. State bonds are a self-imposed and there's no law of nature that mandates using them.

Serious question? Money today is nothing more than a number in an account. When a country needs more of its own currency, it can increase it's account by that amount.

sockenklaus ,
@sockenklaus@sh.itjust.works avatar

Okay, but even if the USA can't change the law regarding states bonds, it is virtually impossible that people stop buying US states bonds since the US Dollar is kinda like the most established currency in the world.

So your argument is completely theoretical.

@sockenklaus@sh.itjust.works avatar

I see what you mean, but this is not about having a strangle hold on the world or being the world's reserve currency. This is about having your own currency and collecting taxes in this currency. As long as a country collects taxes in its own currency there will be demand for that currency.

Why would that happen? There's no proof that printing money (while considering the boundaries of the real resources like available work force) automatically leads to hyperinflation.

What is a simple server solution for Jellyfin and Nextcloud?

I have a really bad "server" (just a laptop) that runs Fedora Server and uses Docker Compose to host Jellyfin. It has been very annoying to update (the web GUI for Fedora doesn't even work half of the time), updating is painful, and it's a pain to manage. I am trying to redo my entire setup, so I will be getting a NAS to store...

CasaOS is great for very simple (basic!) container management and easy creation of basic shares but it doesn't offer any tools for RAID management and is only single user oriented so it doesn't have any access control built in to it's Samba shares. These features might come in the future though.

I don't know Yunohost but I'd recommend you Openmediavault.
It's Debian based, offers tools for managing RAID, Docker, Shares, Users, , Access control Lists, Updates and much more.

It's actually amazing and in active development.

Although the mentioned tools are great I don't know how your comment applies to OPs problem. They are asking for a tool to manage their server and not for a tool to automate their torrenting.

Interesting. Do you know how Cosmos handles storage and especially RAID?

Did you play Path of Exile? If so, how does Last Epoch feel compared to PoE. My favourite aspect of PoE is the hilariously fast gameplay when skilled somewhat correctly and up to this point I didn't find a loot based ARPG that got to this point.

I've read that you're trying for minimal resource overhead.

Is lighttpd still a thing? Back in the day I used it to deliver very simple static Http pages with minimal resource usage.

I found a docker image with like 4 mb size but being two years old I don't know how well maintained lighttpd is these days.

What's with Lee Yeong-ae in her role as Lee Geum-ja in Park Chan-Wooks Lady Vengeance?

This is simply not true. I recently tried Linux for gaming after several years because I read that Valve made some great progress. Installed Crusader Kings III and didn't get Paradox Launcher to run which is necessary for any DLC.

This was literally the first game I installed from my huge library and it simpl didn't work so I had to do two hours of research, trial and error and reading error logs to conclude that I wasn't able to solve this problem.

This is the exact reason why I use Windows for gaming. It simply works 99 % of the time. And I don't have the time to troubleshoot my games all the time.

sockenklaus ,
@sockenklaus@sh.itjust.works avatar

No, not this year but maybe last fall, early winter.
The game itself was running fine but without DLC (which neede the launcher to work) was useless to me.

Maybe I have to give it another try but this experience was the worst possible advertisement for "gaming on Linux" 😐

Thanks for your reply! Which board do you have?

I am more worried about whether Topton can build a functioning motherboard than about whether they spy on me.
