The US Supreme Court has ruled that passwords are protected by the fifth amendment protection against self-incrimination.

Biometrics are not.

Law enforcement hacking into your device is acceptable. Evidence on your device remains admissable with probable cause, a warrant or a judge who likes the police / dislikes you.

Some judges will hold you in contempt for failing unlock your own device. (fourteen years is the record on contempt jail terms). So YMMV once youre facing charges.

Theres also a forgone conclusion rule. If the prosecutors can show sufficient evidence to a crime exists on your device, you can be compelled to open it. I do not know how this proof happens.

Also some judges (including SCOTUS by a ruling) just dont care if the evidence of a crime was legally obtained, they let it be admissible because locking you away is more important than state actors following protocols that preserve civil rights. Id est, the whole of the fourth and fifth amendments to the Constitution of the United States are as slippery as Schrödinger's cat.

My GenX existential horror was learning in my thirties that all the western American Exceptionalism ideology I was indoctrinated in as a kid was just a way of keeping us from getting proactive for sake of the future generations, and my parents and teachers and ministers knew this and actively lied to me anyway.

In an inpatient program at 27, diagnosed with anaclitic depression. If they know what it is, I thought, they can treat it!

Hahaha hahaha HAHAHAHAHA! no.

At best, basket cases like me can manage our symptoms. We can develop habits to make them less common, and get ourselves safe and go into self-care mode when they're triggered. Or when the abyss beckons.

On the other hand, all of society is crazy too. And I know some of the paths in the labyrinth.

During the 2020 epidemic and lockdown bunches of people were furloughed and we all got to acquaint ourselves with extended cabin fever. Many of us picked up new hobbies and some of those could ne monetized and were better than the (often toxic, underpaid) dayjobs.

It was a conspicuous phenomenon now called the great resignation. Our capitalst masters compain how no one wants to work, but it's evident to the rest of us that it's the toxic underpaid conditions we don't like, and we'd be glad to work if conditions were better.

I suspect laziness isn't a real character flaw or deadly sin so much as the desire to not suffer as we work. (There is avolition, a symptom of mental illnes such as major depression, and this is what drives people to couch-potaro for weeks or months at a time.)

The female uses her ovipositor and extracts a single egg cluster from her egg sac. She then shoves it into the sperm bath located in the posterior thorax of the subdued male. Once the ovicluster is fertilized she will choose to depart, letting the male live. Or she will decapitate the male. Or she will consume the male, in whole or in part.

Once fertilized the female then finds and subdues a suitable host. Using her ovipositor, she attaches the ovicluster to the host's underside.

The eggs soon hatch triggered by the warmth of the host. Dozens of larvae burrow into the host and consuming it from the inside out to fuel their own growth. Instinctively, the larvae avoid vital organs until no other edible parts remain.

Once the host is consumed, the larvae exfiltrate the host's remains in search for a nearby suitable place it can pupate, making its own cocoon from available plant matter and its own saliva.

This is actually more the style of jinn and efreet bottled by Solomon. The three wishes stuff was more common with fairy magic (and spoiler, the wish maker would foul it up and get stuck with the consequences.)

With a djinn, it was more yeah, I'll do magic stuff for you until I get bored, and if you're very lucky, and don't piss me off too much, I just might let you live.

Think of a mafia don who owes you a favor and doesn't like the obligation hovering over him. And yet, if you ask for too much, he may just disappear you instead.

There's a lot of intersection between the studies of necromancy, youth rejuvenation, cheating death and medicine.

I'm pretty sure as middle aged wizards seek cures for death and become old, venerable and ultimately geriatric wizards, they start looking to necromantic options with the hopes of finding a way to resurrect themselves.

It's led me to wonder if there's a post-mortem psychosis that drives them away from their research and towards world conquest and catastrophic accelerationism .

Longevity magic is difficult intricate work, and as I might have to resort to going lich or vampire as a temporary measure, I hope to find a remedy for the psychosis problem as I construct my horcruxes life vessels, especially if we're able to develop true AGI before I die.
