It’s allowed for certain types of vehicles, so people illicitly put it in to regular vehicles as well and gas stations turn a blind eye.

I have an ancient PC with a nice video card, and it plays games from about five years ago quite well I haven’t felt a need to upgrade. Unfortunately, I play a couple games with kernel level anti-cheat stuff and I don’t think they will work with linux.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I think actually I was thinking the extra-high octane gas labeled 'for collector vehicles only'.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It prevents knocking in sensitive vintage vehicles, which were designed for leaded gas, too. That article also covers why ethanol can be harmful for them.

Shorting stocks is LIFE

zeppo ,

I don’t really think it was intentional, but that’s the generous, optimistic interpretation.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It was a while ago. Apparently they thought their vision was more to be a self contained forum than connected to everyone else and also that it was “safer”.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That makes sense. I recall some people saying it was contrary to the ethos of the Fediverse but I don’t blame Beehaw. It’s perfectly legitimate to use Lemmy as a self contained forum or to restrict federation as the admins see fit.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Seems like it should be SSL.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, because people were trained to look for the lock icon, though pretty much every site has it now, whether it’s something that necessitates security vs just privacy benefits. Maybe looking for the lock is outdated, idk, but it was emphasized a lot a few years ago.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

True, I wouldn’t expect people to know the terms ssl or tls. My point is, it’s a far, far more common application of cryptography than cryptocurrency.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

In what way? And they supposedly have any clue what crypto currency actually means?

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I’m amazed people are acting like they think nobody has ever heard of this. I suppose it was more a 2010-2015 thing.

They’ve had this for a while. The cheat code is to change the url to old reddit.

Tesla’s in its flop era (www.theverge.com)

When Tesla releases its first quarter earnings this afternoon, the company’s CEO Elon Musk will field the usual questions about new products, new factories, and progress toward its futuristic vision of self-driving cars and robot workers. But Musk will also face increasingly urgent questions about its current state of affairs...

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It’s not just his image. He’s an awful manager and has made some atrocious decision in the last few years affecting Tesla employees, customers and shareholders… even people who don’t buy teslas due to the unsafe FSD. He’s made Tesla a financial and physical danger to the public.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Some people are still claiming that.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

There’s no way in fucking hell ever that I would go into one of Muck’s underground death traps. It’s such an insanely dumb idea.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It’s attributed to John Maynard Keynes.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

He’s been forcing blue checks on people since the initial change - with Stephen King, for instance. Basically a way to promote the program and make it look like prominent people are paying, but also a confused mix with the previous verification checks.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

We could start a social network called UUayland and really confuse things.

Please, for the love of God, VOTE! (pawb.social)

I don't like Biden either, but anyone with half a brain knows there are two choices in the 2020 election. If we had a sane voting system, voting third party might be worth it, but as it stands, no one but you knows your favorite candidate exists and unless you want to become their campaign manager that will still be true in...

“Stop the war with Russia” by turning it over to them. “Everyone in Ukraine could just shoot tjemselves in the head, rape each other and Russia would be appeased”. Pathetic.

Campaigns don’t tend to be self-funded.

I'm not even sure what the article said, I just liked the idea of a literal cannabis pie.

Spreading out the licenses for growing and selling fairly has been a problem in many states, though. States like Oregon have suffered from oversupply on the growing side, making it especially hard for smaller growers to make a profit and survive. In Colorado the market has come to be dominated by large chains, including many from out of state. In some other states the government has handed virtual monopolies to cronies.

The delays tend to be unnecessary and I think much of it is caused by wishy-washy legislators who never wanted it to be legal in the first place, so they invent obstacles. Even states like Colorado are still dragging their heels on related issues like event licenses - the law passed said the state was supposed to regulate it 'like alcohol', so why can't you get a license to serve it at a wedding, 10 years later?

Ex-Activision CEO Bobby Kotick looks to buy TikTok amid shutdown fears - Dexerto (www.dexerto.com)

TikTok has been at the center of controversy for the United States government in the last few years. Particularly, members of the Senate believe China-based parent company ByteDance could spy on its users and share information with the Chinese Government....

It's quite a giveaway to a lucky American business. I vote Google because then they'll get bored with it and shut it down.

First thing trump would do is stop all Ukraine aid and give Putin the green light, second thing he'd do is withdraw from NATO.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Conservative fascism and Trump's foreign policy would kill a hell of a lot more people than 50k in Gaza, but more of them too.

Accusing people of “sealioning” is a great way to not have to defend or discuss poorly thought out or sourced claims.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

The problem I see is when the original poster didn’t explain their point of view, but complain when you ask them to clarify.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Have you checked out the US budget lately?

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

You could start a Lemmy community, subreddit, even a mastodon or Twitter account with the same investment and effort.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That’s the problem. I know of a couple video games where the publisher closed their forums and opened a discord channel. I have no idea why people view them as equivalent things.

It’s a native feature of the device that allows its user to get enormous amounts of attention, in real life and subsequently online, by simply wearing it in public.

Sounds horrible. I guess I’m not someone who seeks attention at any cost like some people, it public is the last situation I’d use this thing in. I would feel like a complete dumbass wearing it at a coffee shop and waving my hands around.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

The porn thing is overblown - it’s only about VR porn. You can watch all the porn you want in a video player or web browser. However people who don’t like Apple eagerly ate up this news, as if Apple banned porn on the device somehow.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

How does that work? Does it stitch together panoramas?

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That makes sense... he's a fairly normal person. I could see using the Vision Pro at a co-working place anyway, especially for someone who's an iOS app developer.

It does seem like an oddly clunky device by Apple standards. I don't find the overall idea abhorrent and could picture owning one down the road - perhaps after they've had a few years to make the device smaller and less expensive. I have no idea what I'd use it for though. Maybe once there are more exciting games than repackaged mobile games like Super Mega Fruit Ninja.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I'm kind of surprised people felt that way about AirPods. I don't remember that at the time. They seem quite mild to me at this point - people didn't mind wearing regular earbuds around, why worry if there's a cord or not?

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve seen that on a couple video game news sites and am just fuck it, I won’t read the article then.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Weird, this week they’re also claiming that TwitX has 24 times the engaged users of YouTube.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Advertisers surely know he's full of crap, too. He can make up fake views, he could even have bots click on ads, but unless he's also going to fake being a customer it will all come out in metrics. Savvy advertisers track all of that. Clicks per display, sales per click.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Scrolling by a video without even looking at it counts, apparently.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Politicians, yes, constituents, no.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That's not the point. I was saying that national Democratic politicians are not properly representing what their voters think on the Israel issue.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Also, Republicans want to send weapons and money to Israel and not to Ukraine, while Congressional/Biden admin Democrats want to do both. So with Republicans you get double the genocides.
