The damndest thing to me is that the fundamental premise of the show, that of being basically random skits, in a random unfair world, where nothing really matters because multiverse and people are just shitty a lot of the time...
... this fundamental attribute was abandoned for a cohesive lore and seasons that follow entire arcs.
The fucking main theme of the show was randomness and unpredictability, and that was abandoned because apparently the remaining fans completely missed the point and needed a standard structure.
