Sorry to hear that. Chromecast (the old kind) has always been difficult to work with for us, as opposed to the Android/Google TV client where we've been able to make things a lot more reliable.
I hope we can get some contributors to give the Chromecast app another pass some time soon.
Regardless, we'll be around if you ever need another alternative :-)
