Welcome @nomad, the first ever FEP-ef61 + FEP-ae97 actor.

It doesn't have S2S inbox yet, but it has C2S outbox and was created from a client. The client controls the identity key, can send signed messages to local users, and receive messages from them. I published the code here: https://codeberg.org/silverpill/fep-ae97-client

FEP-ae97 clients are not difficult to build, and I invite everyone to do so. C2S protocol is identical to S2S protocol, except you send activities to a local outbox instead of a remote inbox, and you pull activities from local inbox instead of listening for them online. The development version of Mitra already has necessary endpoints. FEP-ae97 spec needs to be updated though, I will do that soon.

"Immigration is a positive good. We're fortunate that so many talented, ambitious people want to come here to work and raise families. Biden’s program to help undocumented spouses is a step forward. But Dems should do more to push back on Trump's hate."

omg Chuck from Strong Towns wrote the best smackdown of a "why don't you just let people live the way they want to live" replyguy that I've ever seen.

It's so good that I'm willing to link to the Bad Site so that people can read it:

https://x.com/clmarohn/status/1803131603033690537

Chuck has SO much more patience for this bullshit than I do.

I guess that's why he's the advocate and I'm just the angry YouTuber.

Screenshot of a tweet from a typical replyguy who responds with a Tweet ending in "Maybe we could just let people decide what kind of place they want to live in."

Today is a personal highlight because I was a guest in one of my favourite podcasts @techwontsaveus talking about tech in Europe and the topic of innovation.

It's been such a treat to get to speak to @parismarx, hope you enjoy it as well.

The EU patting their own shoulder via Gartner. Meanwhile, the W3C Data Exchange WG is drying out because the claimed support is not arriving there. But EVERYONE is using DCAT without supporting its development and maintenance. Which is a very European thing to do.

While NGI is a really nice & useful programme "a liaison" is NOT contributing to ActivityPub dear Gartner!

I still fully support NGI, but invite projects to really go into WGs.

Is it really, really, really, really, really, really bad that the publisher of the @washingtonpost allegedly counseled British government officials to destroy evidence in an official investigation?

Or is it just really, really, really bad?

“Nearly 2,000 children under five are dying every day from air pollution, which has overtaken poor sanitation and a lack of clean water to become the second biggest health risk factor for young children around the world.

More than 8 million deaths, of children and adults, were caused by air pollution in 2021.”

Question for the Fediverse hive mind. Is there any evidence that the models hallucination rates are getting ANY better over time?

I'm wondering if a 5 to 15% hallucination rate may just be the nature of the beast with LLM's and an unsolvable problem.

This smells like a real story. The headline says “mystery fundraising firm,” but there’s no evidence of a fundraising firm. There is a Delaware LLC, apparently a ghost or a shell—no address except a post-office box—that has received $3.1 million in Trump campaign cash.

Where did the money go then? Into thin air?

@JamesGleick Trump has more than $600 million reasons to hide money: $450 +/- million to the State of NY & another $90 million owed to E. Jean Carroll. These totals don't include the interest that's accruing every day on those 2 obligations OR the money he owes multiple lenders waiting in the wings for the court monitor to dole out pmts on outstanding debt.

The registered agent for is a big company that acts in this capacity.

The Fediverse is built on open standard protocols. Testing that implementations conform to those standards is important for interoperability. That's what we are working on with the FediTest project.

Here's a first draft report of Webfinger server conformance for almost 100 Fediverse applications. A total of 1615 tests were run.

Overview: https://feditest.org/contrib/results/2024-06-16/ -- more details by clicking through.

Juneteenth is the perfect moment to remind everyone of these two facts:

  1. Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
  2. Those who prevent history from being taught are plotting to repeat it.

Read this out loud. Then read it again. Then teach it to your kids.
