It's so weird that Google migrated to the pile of dung that is RCS instead of just fostering any of their existing chat protocols. Google Talk was working great 15 years ago...

Man it's a shame I switched back to SMS because Google Proprietary RCS now runs only on non rooted android phones gosh forbid.

LodeMike ,

For?.. Is it just another proprietary RCS extension?

stoy ,

Is there a version history of the messages?

Mongostein , (edited )

Should I mention that I’ve been able to do this on an iPhone for a long time already?

do you use google messages or google meet specifically? cause that's what the article is talking about.

Mongostein ,

No

I don’t actually care. I just commented to just the balls of all the people always saying the same thing on iPhone threads.

Downvote away folks!

This is the best summary I could come up with:

This is achieved by tapping and holding on sent RCS messages and then selecting the pencil icon that appears at the top of the screen.

The feature has been expected since last year, when references to editing first appeared inside the Messages app code.

The Google Messages update starts rolling out today for all phones running Android 8 or later.

Similar editing features have already been added to rival messaging services like WhatsApp and iMessage.

The update to instant hotspot also lets users switch between connected phones, tablets, or web browsers during Google Meet calls by tapping the Cast icon.

And lastly, digital car key support is being extended to cover additional vehicles, including select Mini, Mercedes-Benz, and Polestar models.

The original article contains 341 words, the summary contains 120 words. Saved 65%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!
