The only thing I could see myself using it for, is being in bed and watching a movie. I can do that with ar glasses for 300$.

I need help with my first home server. Permission/ownership and samba issues.

I have been using linux for a couple of years already, very casually, just browser, media, games. Recently I bought dell micro pc and installed proxmox on it. I don't have a lot of hdds or raid or anything, just one 6tb usb external drive. I know, I could lose everything, but I don't have anything important in there, just media....

Thx for providing some alternative. I think I will still try to first make it work with mount points and local users. But I appreciate your post and will keep it in mind if I need to use it later.

Ok, that doesn't sound hard. I hope there are no more unforeseeable problems. When I create the new user in containers, should I create the same user in proxmox host and change ownership of the hdd, and all existing files in it, to it? Probably yes, right? Don't have time today again, will try it tomorrow after work.

Thx this sounds like the best solution. Definitely trying it out. Idk how well I will be able to do it, Because I didn't even made those containers myself. I just used proxmox helper scripts. Something came up today and I didn't have time again, will try it tomorrow.

I read some articles in the past that before was Nokia bought they worked on some new os. Idk if it was based on android, but I think it might have been Linux. I don't remember. Microsoft, after the purchase, of course flushed it.

There is no way I am putting proprietary hardware and especially proprietary software into my brain.

I use custom degoogled rom and custom DNS server on my phone, so I minimized the tracking to minimum.

Either way brain chip and phone are a lot different. One you can easily discard, other one you cant. I don't want to dream coca cola ads at night. What happens when they stop supporting / updating it. There is probably something in their contract, where they can force you back on the operating table to take the chip back, if they don't like something that you did, or they are running out of money etc.

I have 1060, I bought it when it came out. Three years after that I completeny switched to Linux. There were some problems with it on rolling distributions. And I still cant figure out hardware acceleration in Firefox. It either doesn't work or it is baraly noticable from software acceleration. I still have a lot of skipped frames.

I mean... If after whole day of troubleshooting and googling it didnt help to fix the problem on 2 distributions, then I don't think the problem is with them. I had my fair share of nvidia shenanigans with nvidia over the years. When I couldn't fix it or didnt didn't want to deal with it I just switched distro until it worked.

I have nvidia gpu, but more and more I am playing on my steam deck. Even though games have lower awg fps, they feel a lot smoother and frametime graph is a clean line. On my nvidia gpu, frametime graph is like noise visualizer for rock song. When next amd series comes out I will probably buy 8800 or maybe I will even wait for 9k series. I am in no rush.

I have never played any Nintendo games. Idk what people see in them. I feel like people buy them mostly because of nostalgia. First game you ever played and all that, and then they buy switch for their kid.

I voted for him and I didnt know about this ai audio. Primary social media in Slovakia is FB and I stopped using that like 8 years ago, that's probably why.
