I’m not sure I’m getting arrested. Me and a team of mercenaries were fighting another team of mercenaries over suitcases of intelligence. Seems like a state of war.

CriticalMiss ,

I read a while back they started charging a monthly subscription for ad-free experience. That’s likely the case.

CriticalMiss ,

And I’m still waiting for them to open source Pocket. Silly me.

CriticalMiss ,

Considering Debian still ships 32bit, this likely won’t affect my distro of choice.

CriticalMiss ,

Although im part of the Linux crowd, if you’re tired of reapplying debloat scripts every update, you could get the W10 IoT LTSC edition that only has security patches with no updates. You will have to pirate it though.

CriticalMiss ,

We also know how to install Windows. Make him install openBSD

Homelabs will always be better maintained. In most cases it’s a one man show and the documentation can be slight hints that will help you remember the process when you need it.

Most of the documentation for my homelab server is a README file in the folder next to the docker compose. At work I’m forced to write a lengthy explanation as to why things are the way they are in Confluence.

The slightly above average users wouldn’t accept it either way. “What is this ugly Ubuntu? I want my gentoo minimalist install with awesomewm” etc

CriticalMiss ,

Yes, you will then need an Arch ISO to pacstrap it again, but it is possible. Arch is not a system that limits your freedom.

I’ve been hanging a version back for a while now. Although my instance isn’t public, it’s ridiculous how many CVEs I have dodged by not updating. SolarWinds all over again.

CriticalMiss ,

I remember researching the topic a while back. SimpleMDM seems to do it, but it requires paying Apple $300 a year. Luckily, Mosyle allows up to 30 devices for free.

CriticalMiss ,

How will that work? Firefox is gonna maintain two different builds?

CriticalMiss ,

That’s what I thought. I’m just waiting for an official Mozilla reply.

PGP already exists 🤷‍♂️

CriticalMiss ,

It’s tied to an identity. You can sign your message with your PGP key.

If everyone learned to use the internet then those companies would have to adapt in order to survive.

Because piracy isn’t a pricing issue, it’s a service issue. If people can get a better service for free, then that’s what they’re going to do. It’s the same reason people go to McDonalds, everyone can make a mid burger at home, but McDs has already done it and will sell it at a price some people will find reasonable. If I could go to Netflix, pay them whatever it costs right now and actually watch the content at a resolution I actually paid for and download to keep myself a copy for later (because again, I bought it) then I’d pay for Netflix. Seeing as that’s not the case and likely won’t be because people keep paying for Netflix, we’re stuck with the status quo.

After as well, no DRM on downloads. Pure .mp4

Ubisoft Exec Says Gamers Need to Get 'Comfortable' Not Owning Their Games for Subscriptions to Take Off (www.ign.com)

Ubisoft Exec Says Gamers Need to Get 'Comfortable' Not Owning Their Games for Subscriptions to Take Off::An executive at Assassin’s Creed maker Ubisoft has said gamers will need to get “comfortable” not owning their games before video game subscriptions truly take off.

CriticalMiss ,

I’m already confident with having 0 Ubisoft games in my library.

I love vim, but it wasn't always like this. When I was a Linux newbie one of the things that irritated me most is that tutorials aimed at beginners told readers to use vim, without explaining how to maneuver it. People, if you write tutorials aimed at beginners please use nano, even if it's not your preferred text editor.

is it not possible to use of those mechanical handles they put on top of regular doors in public places?
