I'm a cyclist in the UK and you're totally right. Enforce the laws against those uninsured electric motorbikes constantly riding on paths and ignoring every law possible as well.

btrfs data rescue after I deleted a parent snapshot of my rollback

Can you expand a bit on that? I thought it didn't matter if you deleted parent snapshots because the extents required by the child would still be there.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

I don't see how systemd has anything like the Windows registry. At least its journals are leagues ahead of Windows event logs, I hate those things and the awful viewer they have.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

btrfs check said broken refs and some other errors,

Gotcha. That must have been a kernel bug (or hardware error), none of the userspace utilities could cause it unless they were trying to manipulate the block device directly, which would be really dumb. It's possible it wasn't even related to the subvolume manipulation.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

You shouldn't force vaccines on people.

Are you suggesting that no children should receive vaccinations?

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

I just started using OpenSMTPD as a backup relay and it seems to work for that. Very lightweight and easy to set up.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

Gnome isn't mentioned anywhere in that exchange?

I dockerized my Nextcloud (github.com)

For years I've been running my Nextcloud on bare metal. Now I finally decided to switch it to docker. I looked into Nextcloud All-In-One and it seems easy to deploy but it lacks configuration options like multiple domain names and putting it behind a traefik reverse proxy is kind of a pain to set up....

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

So does Hyper-V, what's your point?

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

They're saying they've moved away from running things on bare metal and onto using them inside Docker instead.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

I want to say none of that is common in England but perhaps it's changed since I was at school.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

Penalty because of the random hash signs in the comment. It looks like someone trying to tag words but failing.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

That's what the person you're replying to said.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

Why would the 440ml be for the UK specifically?

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

There's always the option to not live in those places.

How to argue for making a new plant public transit friendly

My employer is planning a new manufacturing plant. I work with some of the people designing it. They currently don't have any plans to hook up to public transit, though there's a commuter train station 3 miles away. It takes 20min to bike between them or 40min currently to take a bus. The area it's in is extremely car centric....

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

How do you know minimum parking is required everywhere?

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

Like most people, I am not in the US. I'm surprised to learn of these requirements.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

Microsoft does too. Every time I log in to Azure (or Intune, or Defender, or Microsoft 365 or whatever they're all called these days) for work something has changed names. The documentation usually isn't updated to reflect the changes.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

English as a second language resources for the southerners

Yeah, the way they say grass, bath, and path is horrendous.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

What the fuck

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

I've never noticed more than a single "w" sound. It's the "room" to "rum" Home Counties thing that really gets me but I don't hear it as often as the grass bath path thing.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

Yeah, combination microwave/convection ovens are pretty common in Europe, but they don't need to be smart.

NYC MTA sets Manhattan congestion price at $15 for most vehicles, just one MTA vote left before the first congestion pricing in North America (www.planetizen.com)

New York City’s congestion pricing program is moving forward with a $15 fee on passenger vehicles, reports Stephen Nessen in Gothamist, after the MTA board voted to approve it. The program now enters a 60-day public comment period before a final vote....

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

It's a very well known historical story though.

EinfachUnersetzlich ,

I have two of these outside, jankily sealed up with electrical tape, and they've survived the British weather for a year so far.
