Plenty of paywalled sites have workarounds (Bypass Paywall Clean extension basically does that for you)

FierySpectre ,

On top of the reason the top level comment gave (easy for law enforcement) it also allows for better data collection (linking your activity to your account, no matter where, how or when it is recorded)

FierySpectre ,

New models are like really good at context, the amount of input that can be given to them has exploded (fairly) recently... So you can give whole datasets or books as context and ask questions about them.

FierySpectre ,

That's assuming the old comments are actually overwritten instead of just marked as 'old'

FierySpectre ,

Funny how you think an edit doesn't write the old record to a comments_old table

Works for the presidents of the USA I guess

Firefox failing several privacy tests out-of-the-box, according to Brave article (lemmy.world)

I understand firefox is free software and greatly customisable. I think forks like LibreWolf are fantastic. But I believe the FOSS community needs to be more critical of mozilla. They haven't been the sharpest tool in the drawer for a while......

FierySpectre ,

brave article finds only good things about brave and only bad things about Firefox

Problem with that is that simply pasting your signature is in no way legally binding. Someone could crop your signature out of a random document and then sign a bunch of papers with it.

With a paper copy you're supposed to keep the hard copy (and so is the other party, that's why you always sign in doubles).

Hell even printing, signing and scanning is quite vague in terms of legal value... You'd have to actually send the original hard copies by mail to be 100% covered. (With a registered letter at that).

Digital signing will supposedly make this whole process easier, but doing that digital signing can only be executed by a small amount of certified organisations. (As in everyone can digitally sign something with their own keys, but it won't be legally recognized)

Not a lawyer, just someone who tried to figure out how signing legal documents works to include it in an inhouse program at work

FierySpectre ,

Same with the camera, and probably something can be said about the ports too.

Should apple be allowed to completely close those off though? Nah

FierySpectre ,

This is accurate, it is also accurate for (at least some part of) android though... Going into recovery boot requires the phone pin for my mid-range phone. Hell even turning off the phone can be set to require pin or biometric.

FierySpectre ,

30? I've come across website that in this case would list out all 807 partners.

FierySpectre ,

Unless a mod of this community comes out and says that I'd just ignore him.
