Gross, I got my pc setup for dualboot with Linux. Maybe one day soon I’ll be brave enough to delete windows all together. If I didnt play so many video games I wouldn’t have anything to worry about 😅

Yeah I’ve been using Bazzite which has been the most idiot-proof distro I’ve been able to find. It does work great overall but there are of course a handful of easy anti cheat games that gum things up and a few games that I play most that simply doesn’t get the same performance (unfortunately). GranBlue Fantasy Relink for example runs at the 120 cap in just about every quest with a few dips in the town hub but through proton drops to 40fps when all gears are flying and stutters wildly without warning. Ghost of Tsushima which I’ve been grinding it solid overall but does give me some weird physics things flashing in my eyes here and there (enough to put up with though if I didn’t have other options).
Overall I do love it and boot into Linux as long as I know that I’m going to be playing a game that doesn’t have issues or just plan on web browsing, I just can’t quite let go of stupid windows.

I got the Apple Watch Ultra 2 several months ago and to my surprise I’ve been leaving my phone home about half the time I leave the house. I can still text and answer a call, got my favorite playlists and albums downloaded to it and my Apple Pay setup. Having a dumb phone alone is probably still a step too far back for me but it’s nice having a simpler device that covers all the basics as well as this watch does. I can definitely see the appeal.

I had the opposite problem which is why I gifted my Steam Deck and got an Ally.
The Deck was solid for games that ran right off Steam but a tiresome drag whenever a third party launcher was involved or I just wanted to reclaim some memory from shader caches for games that weren’t even installed anymore (thank the gods for Cryobyt33).
If you’re new to Pc I guess windows can be rough but all I do is run Steam and when it goes into big picture mode everything’s cake from there.

You should try looking into Bazzite then. I have it setup for dual boot on my desktop but they have dedicated distros for a the Ally and Legion Go as well

I got a couple extra drives in my desktop so I installed onto one of those. It works great as an alternative desktop, anybody that just uses their pc to browse the web, email and play a decent chunk of games wouldn’t know the difference from Windows.
The problem is of course compatibility, proton gets you a nice chunk of the way just like it does on the deck but easy anti cheat as an issue like always and a few games just seem to run choppy (at least with an nvidia card). I did try it on my ROG Ally as well and the controller setup worked great, they set the system to recognize the ally’s buttons as a play station controller which was super cleaver. By doing it that way gyro is supported and the back buttons can be mapped to the touch pad presses so it all works without Asus’s software.
In the end though the Ally wasn’t as fast and simple to swap between OS’s so the handheld is just running windows.

Got to remember that most windows and Mac users aren’t even aware of the bloat. I don’t know how many times I’ve gotten on my mom’s pc that she said was going slow and found countless extensions, tool bars and off brand programs installed.
Between her being in her 50s and her grand kids hopping on and clicking everything, nobody knows or gives a damn.
