Lojcs , to linuxmemes in I'm joining the Wayland club on Nvidia

You need to set some environment variable I think, and the app needs look for and obey it. Search ozone

Lojcs , to linuxmemes in I'm joining the Wayland club on Nvidia

I thought they'd use the same code as windows to interface the card and the issue was with exposing that in a linux-compatible way?

Lojcs , to linuxmemes in I'm joining the Wayland club on Nvidia

If you can enable wayland / ozone electron apps do fine otherwise still flickery

Lojcs , to Technology in GPU's rival? What is Language Processing Unit (LPU)

No I got what you meant, but that site is weird if it's not doing anything on its own

Lojcs , to Technology in GPU's rival? What is Language Processing Unit (LPU)

What kind of a website is that? Super slow and doesn't work without web assembly. Do you really need that for a simple interface

Lojcs , to Privacy in Amazon FireTv Cube scares the shit out of me

I don't see why they wouldn't. No way to verify I guess but it's really hard to think Amazon wouldn't come up with a system equivalent or better than what I did while reading this thread.

I imagine it'd be a one time convenience thing, or maybe you could open amazon and click 'set up this device again' or something and it reactivates

Lojcs , to Privacy in Amazon FireTv Cube scares the shit out of me

Can't this all be prevented by the already connected devices checking if the new device matches a newly purchased, not yet set up device in your purchase history? Really slim chance someone eavesdrops on its id and retransmits fast enough to hijack the setup

Lojcs , to Privacy in What are your thoughts on USB storage drives that have keypad encryption?

Does this matter if it needs a password? Luks stores the key in storage too

Lojcs , to Privacy in What are your thoughts on USB storage drives that have keypad encryption?

There's no password involved in that demo

Lojcs , to 196 in crisis rule

Although what constitutes as middle is still unclear. One month? Year? Decade?

Lojcs , to Technology in Reddit started doing what they always wanted to do, sell user content to AI.

That's been an issue for a long time. Fake "blogs" made of scraped reddit posts.

Lojcs , to Technology in Why Charging Your Gadgets Over 80% Is Such a Bad Idea | iFixit News

Isn't the charge limit of the battery arbitrary? The manufacturer can set whatever target voltage they want , so it's meaningless to say they limit the battery to 80% when they decide what 100% is.

Lojcs , to Technology in Scientists aghast at bizarre AI rat with huge genitals in peer-reviewed article | It's unclear how such egregiously bad images made it through peer-review.

Review and replication are completely different things. If publications had to replicate results during review nothing would get published and submission fees would be through the roof

Lojcs , to linuxmemes in This totally happened

How are you supposed to fine 7 vulernabilities in an hour anyways? No way they expect the applicant to actually find vulernabilities right? So you need to memorize a bunch and see if they are present, which doesn't achieve anything other than testing your memorization abilities

Lojcs , to Mildly Infuriating in Yeah but how much for 4?

But you don't pay more either. Without the discount on 3 pack, buying odd numbers would've been worse value than even numbers but the 3 pack discount makes all bulk purchases equal.
