Private WiFi camera for out of town viewing. Live view only. No storage.

Is there a WiFi camera with an app for viewing when away from home, that has decent privacy? Plug and play would be nice. Limited time to do major setup as in 2 hours tops. Cost is fine nothing into 4 digits. Recording not neccesary. No storage is needed. Simple live viewing is all.

OhVenus_Baby OP ,

No nothing. I've been busy so setting up home assistant hasn't happened. I have a server PC but haven't done anything with it yet. Currently dont have the time. I just need to pop in install live feed and pop out the next day. So something live only and quick is what I need. I'm familiar with tailscale.

OhVenus_Baby OP ,

Out of town viewing through tailscale or something similar. The feed needs to remain private from the LAN/WIFI. Only access is through me from outside the network.

OhVenus_Baby OP ,

I don't have a pi but I have a mini nuc like server PC. With mint installed.

OhVenus_Baby OP ,

I will check this out. I need it today. So I'm not sure if this is possible. Its very short notice. I had an unexpected trip.

OhVenus_Baby OP ,

I dont have a vps though currently. I do have a webcam. No idea how to set it up to or viewing and to run 24/7. I can port forward though and am pretty network/software literate.

OhVenus_Baby OP ,

How much we bandwidth we talking? I have the top package internet I can get in the area.

OhVenus_Baby OP ,

10 is the low upload for me. So this might work just fine. Not sure on setup but I definitely want to get it done soon as possible. I just don't have much time between work trips. So I need a rapid solution.

OhVenus_Baby ,

Some Linux distros you can right click the file and there is an option to auto verify the key is correct. Linux mint is one. Use a live USB.

OhVenus_Baby ,

Makes me tired.. I don't know what you you guys are taking.

OhVenus_Baby ,

Change all your important account passwords, enable encryption where you can at rest and e2ee in transit, and enable 2FA to send to a device you know is in your possession like a SMS to keep an eye out for failed logins and such.

OhVenus_Baby ,

If your using good 2fa auth. and generated passwords you probably OK. It wasn't stated you had good measures in place. I was thinking more identity theft situation where someone could compromise your financials. If all they have is some medications, insurance, and basic info you really don't have major concerns. Now if they have your DoB, Social Security, Address, etc then that's where locking down all your accounts would be more appropriate. Your post sounded more severe than your reply here so that lead me to believe it was more dire.

They've had these systems since the 90's. There's a documentary about a guy that got caught from one of these its on Netflix. I forget the name. If I remember I will edit this. He went through an insane amount of court documents and files to uncover LE has been illegally using Stingray systems and other custom made devices in cars for decades. They pinpoint physical location down to the square foot.

Edit: Avoid all networks but 5G if possible, use reputable VPN, VOIP. There are apps the send you notifications if your connected to insecure network types one on Fdroid is 5Gcell. The documentary is called Web of make believe: Death, lies, and the internet. Daniel rigmaiden is the guy who exposed the system. Highly recommend if you wanna learn to watch it.

Any good email service except tutamail and proton ?

I am now using disroot . I don't care about anonymity or anything as I just wanna use it to connect to my bank, ID and buy/book shit etc. Which all have my phone number, address, name etc anyway so no point in that . I just want the security privacy to be good enough that no one can easily hack it, steal my OTP, inbox etc and I...

OhVenus_Baby ,

This is a great service. Easy, simple, everything just works. If you want a simple no BS email that's like a dollar a month or so they are pretty good. A lot of encryption features and privacy settings. Completely renewable powered. I wish more companies were as Eco friendly as posteo. Worth checking them out.

OhVenus_Baby ,

Sometimes I think their all honeypots regardless of brand or documentation proving otherwise. Its the easiest way allowing people to auto filter themselves into more likely to be nefarious without overhead and legwork. Analog or bust.
