iPhones And Androids Can Now Warn You of 'Secret Trackers' (www.ibtimes.co.uk)

In a collaborative effort, Apple and Google have developed an industry-standard detection feature called "Detecting Unwanted Location Trackers" (DULT) for Bluetooth trackers. This standard allows users on iOS and Android devices to be alerted if an unknown Bluetooth tracker is monitoring their location.

Really only it you're using it nerfariously it seems..?

Just curious but in what way/how do you think this feature makes them worthless?

I created a board game alternative for evil people (lemmy.today)

Guys, I have something to brag about. After almost a year of hard learning, I finally created my first mobile game! Storiado is a board game alternative that will make you wonder what's wrong with your friends. Play by answering simple questions, mix all the answers, and generate the most twisted story you've ever read. And then...

Very nice! Would be nice to turn off all vibrations/noises from the app

My phone is muted/silenced and im still experiencing vibrations. Other apps do not vibrate when my device is changed to mute. (Galaxy Note 9)

After announcing increased prices, Spotify to Pay Songwriters About $150 Million Less Next Year (www.billboard.com)

When Bloomberg reported that Spotify would be upping the cost of its premium subscription from $9.99 to $10.99, and including 15 hours of audiobooks per month in the U.S., the change sounded like a win for songwriters and publishers. Higher subscription prices typically equate to a bump in U.S. mechanical royalties — but not...

I love my Tidal subscription. Most everything that's on Spotify is on Tidal now unless it's an exclusive. Most annoying part will be tranferring your playlists

“But we really don’t know how much he understands.”

This is my favourite part. We really like to think we are special but tonnes of creatures on this planet share the same ancestors as us and therefore have the same potential to be like us!

Isnt GPS and other signal blocking against ITU? Seems like a slippery slope into being sanctioned further

I know tobacco laws in this country (USA) are archaic. It seems like this ties into tax laws more since tobacco regulation and taxing is determined by locality. And by restricting federal handling they can push this closer to the localities instead of a federal blanket of laws

Also notice this line; "...aerosolized solution, delivers nicotine, flavor or any other substance to the user inhaling from the device.”
They know it might be used for cannabis. It's just like how non-alcoholic beer falls under alcohol regulations even though it should be treated like normal beverages. Good examples of old laws not properly reflecting the current times

Maybe find a source to upload that can credit the original author next time? Just making sure credit for good comics is getting to who it needs to

Ideally, a well designed physical button wont need any visual confirmation to push or tell if it's already toggled

Think old school hazard lights, horn or turn signal stalks with clicking noise. You dont need to look at it at all to toggle them, or confirm button is depressed or activated. You can tell by auditory confirmation or haptically

Copilot misses the question, elaborates on topic I was speaking aloud instead. (lemmy.world)

Was using my SO's laptop, I had been talking (not searching, or otherwise typing) about some VPN solutions for my homelab, and had the curiosity to use the new big copilot button and ask what it can do. The beginning of this context was actually me asking if it can turn off my computer for me (it cannot) and I ask this....

It's a LLM. You asked it "what can you even do" and one of the most hot topics with AI is privacy concerns. With Copilot being neutered by MSFT to produce curated responses asking it what it can do, and it branching to privacy concerns first, seems totally reasonable

You're right, the current sulfuric acid and potassium hydroxide we use right now are just flowers are roses compared to... water
