Electronic Arts started out so differently. The best, highest quality games, sold in album cases like vinyl records. They wanted to make their devs into rock stars. M.U.L.E., Seven Cities of Gold, Archon. Every game was innovative in every way.

Much later they'd changed, shifted toward the dark side, slipping way. But they still managed to bring us two of my favorite MMOs of all time: Motor City Online and Earth and Beyond.

MCO was online multiplayer Need For Speed with real classic American cars with real hot rod parts, the real engines, everything. I've not seen anything like it since. Hardly no one wants to pay to license real world cars any more. And you certainly don't get the real engines with the real hot rod parts.

EAB was a crappy FPS but somehow 2D space game, but it had the best crafting and leveling system. You take things apart eventually learning how to build things. Player built stuff could possibly go was high as 200% quality so other players would want to buy your wares. The leveling system had three distinct lines: exploration, combat, and trade. Play the game how you wanted to having fun your way not how they think you should.

Anyway, EA killed them both, turned off the servers, refused to release the server code so player servers or single player modes were impossible. They sent me a coupon for their new Sims game, though.

So fuck EA. Haven't bought a single one of their games since.

Texas also sits next to a very warm body of water. Swimming in it is like bathing in a pool of hot sweat. The humidity is off the charts. I could get a general read on the comfort level by which direction the planes were landing and taking off. They always head into the wind. One direction meant high temps plus high humidity, and the other meant less off both due to a cool front blowing in from up north.

California has the opposite. Sure most of it is a desert, but the cool Pacific Ocean cools the air and contributes a lot less humidity.

My current theory on the whole meme:

  1. Someone in high school debate class is tasked with arguing in favor of Flat Earth theory or moon landings were faked.
  2. Intrigued by the ease with which they manipulate people into believing outlandish concepts, they try talking people into believing more untenable ideas like "grip tape is much better at holding reaper pepper hot sauce on the surface of a dildo than barbed wire."
  3. Person finds that limits exist and tries to come up with something more reasonable -- becomes champion for Arch Linux.
  4. People take them seriously and it takes off..

DISCLAIMER: I have tried neither grip tape and hot sauce covered dildos nor Arch Linux but you get the concept I'm trying to convey I hope.

It is not hands that call us, but desire.

Teams sucks. I would gladly pay for ANYTHING else vs using it even for free.

Major side benefit of finally having a decent vacuum cleaner..

What's so special/annoying/good/bad/different about arch anyway? Honestly I'm 100% out out the loop here..

Absolutely yes! I think this is what killed the reasonably good Windows Phones. I liked them anyway. They did what phones were supposed to do and were dirt cheap. But if you searched for any of the top 50 apps you'd find some fake BS. Like when I searched for Pandora you got an app that was nothing more than a 3-4 page summary about how Pandora was the planet in James Cameron's Avatar.

Interesting tidbit: Actress that played Vasquez also did Sarah Conner's mom..

TotalFat ,

I appreciate the correction. Looks like I need more electrolytes this morning!
