Is there a way to lookup data linked to your Advertising IDs?

I'm taking a class on data privacy at the moment, and it made me think it would be interesting to see exactly what kind of advertising data has been generated by services like Google \ YouTube \ Etc. Is there somewhere online that's easy to punch in an advertising ID & find that sort of data, or is that something you'd have to...

Also the data is anonymized.

Data researchers have shown that the data can be de-anonymized, but it won't be trivial for OP to do

    All of them allow messages that are not end-to-end encrypted, so the answer is none.

    If I'm wrong, please pount me to an instance that blocks messages that are not end-to-end encrypted. Please.

    Matrix does not enforce end-to-end encryption.

    clever_banana ,
    @clever_banana@lemmy.today avatar

    That is misleading. It depends on the client, and its super easy to accidentally create one thats not e2ee

    clever_banana ,
    @clever_banana@lemmy.today avatar

    Because human error is a risk. Most orgs that hsvr these requirements won't adopt software that allows messages to be sent without e2ee because its a risk

    I'd like to find a way to adopt Matrix such that its not possible for users to send or receive unencrypted messages.

    why not put this on Wikipedia? Theres already a great article there that would benefit from this additional data

    Very few dont require a phone numbers, so Wire is def in the top 10

    @clever_banana@lemmy.today avatar

    WhatsApp, Telegram too.

    Oh, and Discord and a bunch of others dont tell you they require phones. Until their ML system false-positives and locks you out of your account until you auth with a phone number.

    Fuck this. I get fulfillment through work.

    What I want is for my labor to be helpful to humanity, not some corporation.

    What you call a "job", I call slavery.

    If I'm painting a mural for fun, its still a job.

    But if you " have" to do a job that you dont want to do, you're a slave.

    I love gardening and doing home improvement work. I love contributing software to open source projects. All of this is work.

    It's also gobs of telemtey and AB testing constantly watching how you're interacting with what's on the page and changing what you see to figure out what makes you engage more & longer. All that processing requires a lot of resources compared to sites that respect your privacy.

    100% if you block all JavaScript. But then those worst-of-the-worst sites dont load at all

    clever_banana ,
    @clever_banana@lemmy.today avatar

    Agreed. I block all JavaScript. Unfortunately it means I can't read some links that people post to Lemmy >:O

    Sent me a laptop that died within a month of its arrival. Asked for a refund, and it took them almost a year to finally give me my money back (minus some large amount).

    If they're this profitable, theres no justification to treat your customers like this

    I wish more admins would make votes public on their instances, so the whole community could work together to identity bad actors

    clever_banana ,
    @clever_banana@lemmy.today avatar

    Please do this. Its really not an issue.

    The solution is simply to use anonymous accounts and change them frequently. This should be more publicized as normal lemmmy data hygene

    clever_banana , (edited )
    @clever_banana@lemmy.today avatar

    Wut? The data is already public. Why only allow the bad guys to access it and not everyone?

    Everything you do online will be used against you unless you do so anonymously. This isn't a Lemmy problem. Its only specific to Lemmy if we as a community dont inform each other of the risks and encourage safe data hygienic practices
