Been using Proton stuff for years. Some things are super annoying and just don‘t work. Their software engineers are mediocre at best. This made me move everything away from Proton a couple of years ago. Funny enough, all the other privacy focused providers annoyed me even more. So after 1-2 years without Proton, I moved everything back :D

Don‘t expect too much and you will be fine. Simple features you know from other services might be missing. Support is meh, but you rarely have to use it.

So what alternatives to ChatGPT do exist? I‘m currently a premium ChatGPT user and would like to switch to another service.
I don‘t care that super much about privacy, but will obviously not use OpenAI products anymore

I understand the science behind those LLM‘s and yes, for my use cases it has been very useful. I use it to cope with emotional difficulties, depression, anxiety, loss. I know it is not helping me the same as a professional would. But it helps me to just get another perspective on situations, which then helps me to understand myself and others better.

I agree, things that occure the most in the training data set will have the highest weights/probabilities in the Markov chain. So it is useless in finding the one, tiny relation that humans would not see.

I think you need to chill - please don‘t be triggered by me having an option to make me feel better at the end of the day.

Instead of assuming, you could also just ask. I am using ChatGPT complementary to a mental health professional. Both help me. ChatGPT is here 24/7 and helps me with difficult situations immediately. The mental health professional is then here to solve the problem in a therapeutic way.

Also, don‘t use it for any mail servers. Spam Assassin gives a negative score by default on *.xyz domains. Stupid as shit, but I had to learn the hard way.

Agree. I just got it for fun and because it was cheap. I used it for my disposable e-mail addresses but now switched to .org

Basic docker networking?

Hi guys! I'm going at my first docker attempt...and I'm going in Proxmox. I created an LXC container, from which I installed docker, and portainer. Portainer seems happy to work, and shows its admin page on port 9443 correctly. I tried next running the image of immich, following the steps detailed in their own guide....

Add a new VM, install docker-ce on it and slowly migrate all the other containers/vm‘s to docker. End result is way less overhead, way less complexity and way better sleep.

I was assuming you were able to get rid of the other 5 VM‘s by doing so. If not, obviously you would have not less overhead.

My HA is running in docker. It is easier than you might think. Forget about LXC. And just take your time migrating the stuff and only when the service works in docker, you can shut off the VM.
Believe me, management of docker is way easier than 5 VM‘s with different OS‘s. Docker Compose is beautiful and easy.

I‘m the author of this one and currently it is kind of a mess. Focus was on downloading stuff via usenet and torrent and now many home automation tools came along:

The problem is that there are still features missing from certain browsers. For example, Mozilla does not like restrictive licenses, which is why many media codecs are not available in Firefox. Google does not care, pays the fees and provides the media codecs for free.
As soon as we get rid of shit like h265 and switch to av1, the world will be a better (and more open) place where everyone can use any browser.

That‘s the problem. If you show a damaged or non working website, the user assumes it is a problem of the website, then thinking negatively about it.
Unfortunately the world is not as easy as you see it :)

Kinda agree, but from a software developer perspective, there is no reason to maintain multiple code bases or exceptions just because 2% of the users might profit from it.
The same thing happened in the past, when everyone had to have special CSS exceptions for IE6. But in that case it was worth it, as the marked share of IE6 was huge.
