Sudo is a setuid binary, which means it executes with root permissions as a child of of the calling process. This technically works, but gives the untrusted process a lot of ways to mess with sudo and potentially exploit it for unauthorized access.

Run0 works by having a system service always running in the background as root. Running a command just sends a message to the already running seevice. This leaves a lot less room for exploits.

Israeli Minister Reportedly Asks IDF To Kill Palestinians Instead Of Arresting Them (www.huffpost.com)

The Israeli Defense Force’s chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, briefed ministers at a security cabinet meeting last week about recent operations in Gaza, where Israel has been carrying out a military offensive for almost seven months now in response to Hamas’ attack on Oct. 7 that killed about 1,200 people and captured...

How is Ben-Gvir a minister? And how is the US acting like a government that would appoint him as the minister of national security is conducting this war in anything resembling an ethical way?

When he turned 18 and reported for mandatory conscription, the IDF rejected him for being too extreme.

After Yitzhak Rabin signed the Oslo occords, the last best chance for a peaceful resolution to this conflict, Ben-Gvir stole Rabin's hood ornament and brandished it on national television saying something to the effect of "we got his ornament, we can get Rabin". Not long after, an Israeli extremist assasinated Rabin; and with him any hope of peace.

He has since been convicted, by an Israeli court, of supporting a terrorist organization (Kach), and incirement of racism.

That is the man in charge of Israel's national security.

And the police did stop traffic from getting onto the bridge. Listening to the police audio [0], it sounds like they were in position almost immediately after the request came in. Having said that, I don't think they were quite fast enough for the traffic already on the bridge to get off.

If they had responded faster, they might have made it in time for the one officer to be on the bridge evacuating the workers when it collapsed. With the benefit of hindsight, that would have accomplished nothing except 1 more death.

I'm often pretty critical of police, but I see absolutely nothing they could have done better in this case.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell
utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system
that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run.
The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is
normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system
is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux"
distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

I just checked my State's rules. [0] The maximum benefit is given by the "thrifty" food plan, which is cheaper than the USDA's "low cost" food plan.

For a 20 year old woman, that is $242.30 a month. From there, you compute 30% of your net monthly income, and subtract it from your SNAP allotment.

If the result is too low, this provision kicks in:

Except during an initial month, all eligible one and two-person households will receive a minimum monthly allotment of $16, and all eligible households with three or more members which are entitled to $1, $3, or $5 allotments will receive allotments of $2, $4, or $6, respectively.

    Truly a golden ticket. /s

There are still a lot of rather arbitrary decisions to make.

Is 4/pi inside or outside of the summation?

Is it (-1)^n+1 or (-1)^n with an additional negative sign in any of the other natural locations for it.

Is the e term outside of the fraction with a negative exponent, or part of the denominator.

Do you start with n=0 or n=1 (and adjust the terms inside the summation accordingly)

    Did they expand (2n+1)^2?

And? Discrimating against someone for their race, gender, or sexuality is bad. Discriminating against someone for being a jerk is fine.

The establishment is all in on anti genders now. The real anti establishment thinking is in the sgenders: sup, sdown, scharm, sstrange, stop, sbottom.

And, of course, the anti-sgenders as well.

Not nessasarily, the protocol could be written so that an instance simply tells other federared instances "X of my users upvoted this, and Y downvoted this".

The tradeoff being that instance then have less tools to work with to moderate voting. Instead of being able to do global vote ring detection, the most they can do is look for abuse on their own server, and trust that every instance they vote-federate with does the same. Even then, with every instance trying to be vigilant, no one instance would have the info to detect a cross-instance abuse.

No offense, but the extra stones just made it so he could go easy on you. When I started go, the new player challenge was to end a 9 stone handicap game against the resident 3-dan with a "positive" score. [0]

[0] most official scoring methods either ignore captured stones, or count them as positive points for the player who captured them. However, when scoring by hand, it is easier to count them as negative points for the person who lost them; so thats what we did.

Women STEM students up to twice as likely as non-STEM students to have experienced sexism (www.hepi.ac.uk)

We know that women students and staff remain underrepresented in Higher Education STEM disciplines. Even in subjects where equivalent numbers of men and women participate, however, many women are still disadvantaged by everyday sexism. Our recent research found that women who study STEM subjects at undergraduate level in England...
