I think people like this believe that non-straight folks have an agenda to make straight folks* feel ashamed of being straight. As in - if you're proud of being gay, that means you must think being not-gay is a bad thing. And so they feel attacked. It's so brainless and reactionary.

My family made a savory matzoh brei with onion and shredded cheddar, and we still covered it in maple syrup lol. To this day it remains one of my favorite comfort foods!

My dad (Jewish but atheist) never bothered keeping kosher so he'd make pork chops with latkes ("hey, they both taste good with applesauce!"), or a savory cheesy matzoh brei with bacon - you get the gist.

I had a whole system for labeling and dog-earing pages (most wanted: top corner with a post-it flag; second tier: top corner, no post-it flag; third tier: bottom corner).

I really really wanted a bunk bed with the bed on top and a desk area below. Didn't get it. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever got a single thing I asked for from the catalog!
