TIL you can customize the icons on Libreddit.

Gonna have to check the docs -- can I make my own colorschemes??

same kind of search results as you always have.

Funny, I don't remember getting top news stories, preview links for videos, or images when I did a Google search in the early 2000s...

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

I think you mean SafeSearch > off.

Yes, you would pretty much be guaranteed to get a helping of porn no matter what.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Analogous. Which the above commenter just explained why it isnt.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

You're not going to take any action to make things better during those 4 years? Why not?

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Well, well, well. If it isn't the exact non-answer I was expecting to get from that question. (Albeit with more spelling mistakes)

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

I'm not from the US, smartypants.

So? You're snarkily commenting on the actions of a US citizen.

The fact remains that there's work to be done by the people and it will either happen under Biden or Trump.

One of those options is clearly more inhabitable than the other.

You being from another country and sowing political discord isn't the gotcha you think it is.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

You were asking me what I was about to do in th coming 4 years, probably concerning US politics.

Yeah, shame on me for assuming you were commenting on something that mattered to you. Egg on my face for not recognizing that you're just cackling from the sidelines.

It's not about inhability. It's about a system that's in constant peril of sliding into fascism isn't worth defending.

Then you're either saying there's no way to fix that system (which is pointless and petulant). Or that there's work to do beyond voting to make those fixes (which, see my previous comment)

I'm not trying to do that.

Then frankly, it's not clear what you're actually trying to do. Whatever it is, its coming off as pointless and annoying at best and deliberately divisive at worst.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Fancy, semantic way of getting right back to my point which was "this system bad > change to different system".

Is that clearer for you?

A product you were just talking about pops up in an online ad. How? Advertising algorithms are so good that they may know what you want even before you do. C...

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Nope. The amount of data required for constant recording and streaming of audio would be ridiculous and would show up in analysis.

The simpler answer is that the algorithms are getting scary good.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

And if she's paired anyway with that person

This line right here is where it should be obvious how far this "analogy" has to be twisted to even start to become analogous.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

I've been looking into Ansible for exactly this reason.

Good to know its going to be an uphill battle.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

the other is a stereotype deadbeat father

Says who?

null , (edited )
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

He's actually just harassing that other user based on an interaction they had in another thread.

He's doing the same in my inbox:

Edit: see, I really must have gotten under his skin.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

I think you're right up to a point. I disagree about teaching people how to think. I credit a particular lesson in early high-school in a media studies class with giving me the framework to critically consider the media I consume and the headlines / viewpoints I read.

Whether debate is the best format for that, I dunno. But I do think teaching kids how to think critically is valuable.

You won't get through to him, he's way too deep in dreamland. Just check his history.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Whether you think that applies in this particular case is another question

If this was what you were presenting this as (a logical response to the argument above) then it shouldn't be another question. It should apply directly to this argument.

Your comment only applies to a negotiation between 2 parties and doesn't address the actual problem at hand whatsoever. So yeah, its not a logical response to the above argument at all.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

It certainly does not establish "the logical framework" for the opposing case. Again, as I explained, the framework deals with 2 parties negotiating, which is not applicable to the argument presented.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Because the parties you established are the voter, and the party asking for votes. Those are not the parties presented in the original argument.

If you introduce more parties, it doesn’t change the dynamics of the situation.

Of course it does.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

That’s called an analogy.

Not when it isn't analogous to the situation presented. Which yours is not.

No it doesn’t.

Prove it.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Prove it’s not. You’re the one claiming that the distinction makes it not analogous.

That's not at all how the burden of proof works.

I don’t know why you think that would change it so it’s impossible for me to address your reasons.

You're leaping to the assumption that the scenario you provided is even analogous to the one you replied to. It isn't. You need to start by proving that it is.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

^ what it looks like when a both-sideser gets cornered, folks!

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

We won't be confused, we'll know people like you allowed it to happen.

If you think throwing away your vote means going further left, then I have a bridge to sell you.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Legit nobody has correctly identified why the people in this thread are completely avoiding using the word "Palestine" and are instead using "Gaza."

Lmao the person you couldn't argue against did exactly that.

Imagine you spent the effort you are here petulantly calling me a bot trying to spin up an actual counter-argument.

Your little head would probably explode.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

🥱

Still waiting on that counter-argument, both-sideser.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Genuinely no sense in replying

🥱

Oldest cop-out in the book. But certainly the best the tiny both-sideser brain can come up with.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Everyone that disagrees with me is a bot

Real end-game communism is functional, stateless, declarative, reproducible, and defined in a single configuration file.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

This is highly pedantic, and i apologize for doing this. However, I can't leave this alone

It's prefers

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Weird, I use it all the time. Even starting to use it for work to save a ton of time on simple, time-consuming work.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Sure, in the complete absence of tone and context.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

I don't think they were calling the other user a tinfoil-hat wearer.

I think they were (joking) suggesting it as a solution to the problem of advertisers reading out brainwaves.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

"Probably" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

Okay, but what's wrong with putting it on the desk?

null ,
@null@slrpnk.net avatar

It's a water bottle. Go to horny jail.
