In Australia some companies --banks-- are starting to refuse taking/using cash. Killing privacy, slowly. Most normies can't see how that and will be used to track you.

In Canada, the Feds changed the law 2 years ago. They can now lock you out of your bank accounts without a court order. Which was needed before.

Currency transaction reports and suspicious transaction reports, do they not sound like something the Stasi would demand in communist East Germany?

No. Not in the slightest. They’re a response to crimes of capitalism committed by capitalists governed by capitalists. If making sure everyone gets equity means people moving about 20% of the median American yearly salary have to be transparent, I’m okay with that.

Monero is the answer to this

This might be FUD, but... Vastaamo hacker traced via ‘untraceable’ Monero transactions, police says. (Edit) - A video debunking the police report - https://yewtu.be/watch?v=7CD_Nl3iwhE

shortwavesurfer ,

That was debunked. That person accidently uploaded a .tar of their home folder which had info on previous hacks the cops knew he committed. The monero was not the link their.

nice, thank you.

shortwavesurfer ,

No problem. The cops in this case are doing a good disinformation campaign.

Tangent5280 ,

Since this did turn out to be debunked FUD, might be a good idea to edit it in to this comment.

can do, if you could provide the link to the debunking source - would be great!

Here's a link to mental outlaws video talking about this -

Bad OPSEC - How The Feds Traced a Monero User
https://yewtu.be/watch?v=7CD_Nl3iwhE

MagneticFusion ,

I'm so tired of the misinformation about Monero being traced to catch Finnish hacker. The hacker just had one of the worst opsecs imagineable and .tar'ed his entire home directory when trying to upload the information on the dark web, and ended up as a result, uploading his entire home directory. Once you do that it becomes pretty easy to identify who the fuck you are and track you down. Here is a video by mental outlaw going more in depth.https://youtu.be/7CD_Nl3iwhE&t=0

I am not a crypto bro myself and personally don't see volatile cryptocurrency as a solution but I'm tired of hearing "Monero traced back to its user" NO. Monero USER was found because of OTHER bad opsec practices.

I'm anonymous, let me share my desktop folder to you, and transfer the exact number of coins from the ransom to my bank

edit: also, I'm a ransomeware hacker that had been caught many times before in a country with population of 5.6mln. Come and find me, we are a legion

Yeah no, I'm not using a sketchy crypto with a unstable value for my personal finances.

Its a good thought but crypto is not the answer

You not knowing don't mean jack squat.
