Anamana ,

Why are joker memes always cringe? Like no matter what you write, I just get an instant cringe feeling.

Anamana ,

work very intuitively

I only ever used gimp

Anamana ,

Gimp works fine.. but it's not intuitive and the UI/UX is horrible.

Anamana ,

Haha

Anamana ,

While I understand your frustration, intuitive UI/UX is 'real' and not just a marketing gag. But you have to invest the money and the time to do proper user research.

Microsoft's new Paint Cocreator requires an NPU — AI-powered feature requires 40 TOPS of performance and a Microsoft account (www.tomshardware.com)

Microsoft quietly added a new AI feature, called Cocreator, into its raster graphics editor included in every version of Windows since 1985. You need a Copilot + PC with an NPU that can deliver 40 TOPS or better to use it. So, you need to shell out at least $1,099 to get one of the new Snapdragon X Windows Copilot+ PCs that...

Anamana ,

What was the issue? Do you know?

Anamana ,

Daaaamn crazy story. Scary you can just tap out like that. Good on him he didn't get injured too much

Anamana ,

Not really the fault of the EV then tho :D

Anamana ,

If she uses software from CC and not only stores data there then I don't think anything will be able to replace it without frustration. You have to get used to a whole different workflow.

Anamana ,

Yeah if I'd be her I'd rather cut my finger off than do that tbh 😅

Anamana ,

There's nothing cringier to me than uttering the phrase 'let's connect' - in a work related context

Anamana , (edited )

All these news pieces about A.I. killing ancient company xyz ...

Anamana ,

'Write me a reply, that gets upvoted by the Lemmy OG IT bubble' ;)

Anamana ,

Not even the AI listens to our gibberish

Anamana ,

Lemmy feeling kind of repetetive with these comments

Anamana ,

It only goes through their Wikipedia LLM if you push that button

Anamana ,

They have thought of a specific design for the device using its own interaction modality and created a product that is more than just software.

Therefore don't get why people refer to it being just an app? Does it make it worth less, because it runs on Android? Many devices, e.g. e-readers are just Android Apps as well. If it works it works.

In this case it doesn't, so why not focus on that?

Anamana ,

Because, you know, technological development? Someone has to fund R&D, because it's not cheap. And in 10 years everyone will have similar ai-enhanced devices. No one thought smartphones will make it back in the days as well. And I'm already looking forward to the time when I don't have to look down anymore to get information

Anamana ,

It's an experimental device and by buying it you invest into r&d. It's not meant to replace a smartphone as of now, but similar ones eventually will.

My point stands, because they are offering a completely new (but obv lacking) experience with novel design solutions. What they made is a toy, which is not really unusual for teenage engineering. But if they do as they did with other devices in the past this thing might actually rock in the future. They are not inexperienced and usually over super long support for their devices.

TE is way older than Nothing and Playdate btw...

Anamana ,

Opening the windows during sleep sucks in winter tho. That's the only downgrade for me

Anamana ,

Another reason would be you can't use heavier blankets in summer

Anamana ,

Hahaha true.

I also like the Airpods Pro :) I even rebought them, when I lost them. Only apple item I ever owned. But the fit is awesome and they never hurt. I could wear them all day. And battery lifetime is probably as long as the one of a smartphone battery.

Anamana ,

It's not marketing talk if you know 5+ people and noone has problems with their battery after two years.

Anamana ,

Sure, but then it's still worth more than this article lol

Anamana ,

practice falling

I'm not a skater, but I do parkour and I really can't stress this enough.

If you know how to fall it takes away your fear, because you know how to act when it happens. And pro skaters are damn good at falling, even from a parkour perspective.

Anamana ,

That's a stupid point to make tbh, because the most important information, knowledge and entertainment is on their platforms in a quality and quantity that is unprecedented. Meaning you can try to avoid it, but from time to time you have to use google/gmaps/yt/...

And that's coming from me.. someone who degoogled their smartphone.

Anamana ,

?

Anamana ,

They do provide sth unique, because open source/privacy friendly alternatives are not supporting the same features to a full extent in one solution with a simple UX. And even Bing, as you mentioned and other competitors, fall short. I'm using Startpage (based on Google) and OSM most of the times and I'm happy with it, but sometimes I gotta check restaurant ratings or satellite view etc. Also route planning is way more convenient on gmaps even if I don't use it. There's probably more as well, which I'm not aware of.

Yes exactly, YouTube is the only google service I use almost everyday (besides Startpage).. but I wouldn't know what to do without it.

Fair enough :)

Anamana ,

Agree to disagree. Was really helpful in Vietnam e.g., and I also don't have problems with it in Germany.

Anamana ,

Just the system embedded LOS alarm clock. I don't trust any third party alarm clock apps to work when I need them to.

Anamana ,

Almost no one uses telegram e2e, because it's not automatically activated. Also group chats are not e2e.

I still like to use telegram tho.

Also doesn't Whatsapp just use the signal protocol for e2e?

Anamana ,

Jep, all of this is true. I have two chats with some people because of that.

Also you can't search for words within e2e chats, which is a pain in the ass sometimes.
