ArcaneSlime ,

I mean, I literally can't. I barely used W10, I just flat out am unable to provide tech support, you might get lucky and I'll figure it out but that's the best I've got.

ArcaneSlime ,

I miss mine, they closed down about 4mo after I quit because I couldn't pay my bills anymore, because during covid people had stopped tipping as much, and the people that were tipping more to make up for the other's slack just couldn't tip enough to make it work because they have bills too of course. Now we have some local chain type things but it's not the same quality and instead of $8/hr+tip they pay $5.25/hr+tip out of the store and $7.25 in store, so it sucks for drivers too.

ArcaneSlime ,

Why is this so difficult for people?

Because, for the people who refuse to "get it," it isn't actually about exploitation or whatever other lip service they give to make themselves seem magnanimous for not tipping, it's about the fact that they don't want to give the delivery driver a penny and have to lie to you and themselves so they think they're good people. They're not, though. If they were they'd see it like you do, they're just selfish and deep down they know it so they concoct their lies to defer blame from their conscience.

ArcaneSlime ,

regardless of their financial situation

I'm too broke to order for delivery and tip and all that. Do you know what I do? I pick up, or cook at home. I don't engage with the service that would expect me to tip, because if I'm too poor to spend $5 on not being a huge cunt I'm too poor to spend $20 on a pizza, I'm gonna cook a damn $5 Red Baron, or $7 worth of pasta and sauce for the next two days.

If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford the menu price either. Source: I can't afford the tip, and while I may have the menu price on me rn I truly need to save it because there'll be something I need it more for later than momentary endorphins released by melted cheese.

ArcaneSlime ,

Yes and you not tipping makes a difference how exactly? By making sure the exploitative business gets enough money to keep exploiting their workers for $7.25 instead of $2.13? You're doing great sweaty, keep it up. Don't bother boycotting businesses as that would inconvenience you, better to help exploit the worker and then get mad at them about it, that'll help!

Fuck outta here with your high horse.

ArcaneSlime ,

Yup, but of course according to the selfish they don't deserve tips for that. Personally I think we should all just stop delivering and force everyone to pick up. People clearly don't appreciate it, why put wear and tear on your car and soul for people who actively hate you, y'know?

ArcaneSlime ,

Can't use my VPN and adguard at the same time iirc, unless android has two active VPN "slots" now. Can't bring a pihole with me 24/7 either as much as I would like to.

ArcaneSlime ,

Took me three tries not to read "Installing arch is a fun endeavour but is just so much faster..." lmao

ArcaneSlime ,

Unpopular opinion it seems, but it's true. I successfully convinced a dude that "zebras aren't real, they're just horses painted to look like that. Big Zoo is just lying to sell tickets." I was kidding but he believed it and it just made it that much better lol.

I'm not doing it as some crusade against any -isms though I just think it's fucking hilarious.

ArcaneSlime ,

If I find out who's doing it I'm chopping off your hands and stealing your botnet. Long live The Internet Archive!

ArcaneSlime ,

I just installed Fedora KDE for the first time from gnome and goddamn all these fucking Ks lmao! Gotta say though I didn't like elisa, installed Clementine almost immediately. I definitely don't need all these apps but I have to figure out what they all do before I go removing them willy nilly.

And it refused to update my default browser to Librewolf so I had to uninstall Firefox to force it.

And NetworkManager wouldn't work with the official fedora recommendation of how to randomize mac addresses, no clue why, it worked on gnome.

Other than that it is neat, though.

ArcaneSlime ,

Nope, tried that, and still SABnzbd opened up in Firefox until I ran sudo dnf remove firefox. No clue why.

As for the randomized mac, OHHHHH thanks! That's probably why when I put that config file there it was confused! I was unaware of this change, thanks again!

And thanks, I'll definitely check out your debloat guide, but I'm still going to have to do some learning and decide for myself because we'll be different. For instance I'm probably keeping kGpg unless I replace it with Kleopatra (ironically also a K haha). I'll definitely use it as a start point though!

ArcaneSlime ,

https://sabnzbd.org/

Just Usenet shit. The important part is when you run the program it opens up your default web browser, which in my case was perpetually firefox and idk why.

I've had mac rando on on fedora in the past and am running Graphene with it on by default, no breakages so far in about 2-2.5yr. Maybe my usecase doesn't need static MACs. The only issue is my home wifi says "a new device has been connected" every time I connect, but like, that's fine.

Good point on the hostname though, I usually use a specific name per device for my own sanity but maybe I should make them all generic "PC."

ArcaneSlime ,

Thing is though, it exhibited the desired behavior on Fedora 39 Gnome, if it was just how SABnzbd rolled I'd expect it to do it back then too, but since it's new behavior I suspect it's something else.

Yeah it does clog up the router a bit but I think in my case they auto-clean the older ones out.

ArcaneSlime ,

I may do that, but honestly instead of doing any testing I kinda just immediately said "fine, you don't wanna do it? Uninstall howbout now?" So idk if I have much valuable data for them.

ArcaneSlime ,

Alright we're like 1/4th of the way to a song here...

ArcaneSlime ,

routing all your internet traffic though one company

You mean my ISP which is known to monitor, censor, keep logs, and sell my info or Mullvad who hasn't been caught doing that yet?

ArcaneSlime ,

then the risk becomes the latest available jailbroken iOS could be outdated from the real versions

Flipper0: iOS 17 Lockup Crash has entered the chat juuuust to be annoying.

Why Your VPN May Not Be As Secure As It Claims (krebsonsecurity.com)

Virtual private networking (VPN) companies market their services as a way to prevent anyone from snooping on your Internet usage. But new research suggests this is a dangerous assumption when connecting to a VPN via an untrusted network, because attackers on the same network could force a target’s traffic off of the protection...

ArcaneSlime ,

Well, my job better not, or they'll get a letter from their ISP about that torrenting I was actually told I could do when I asked!

Novel attack against virtually all VPN apps neuters their entire purpose (arstechnica.com)

Pulling this off requires high privileges in the network, so if this is done by intruder you're probably having a Really Bad Day anyway, but might be good to know if you're connecting to untrusted networks (public wifi etc). For now, if you need to be sure, either tether to Android - since the Android stack doesn't implement...

ArcaneSlime ,

Do we know which VPNs do have routing guards or an indirection layer? Especially out of the "good" ones; mullvad, proton, air, and IVPN?

ArcaneSlime ,

Damn I might have to go back to them. I just want port forwarding, is that so much to ask?!

ArcaneSlime ,

I wish I could find one that is just a little less ideological. Not that I have a problem with ideologies, but I have trust issues, and I've seen some people justify some shit in the name of their ideologies, and as such I don't fully trust someone with a policy like:

To be hosted on our servers you have to share our principles of anti-fascism, anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia, anti-transphobia, and anti-militarism. Your projects must as well be based on the same non-commercial nature which keep our project alive, and on the desire to share and experience relationships and struggles, with all the patience it requires.

for instance not to monitor my email to ensure I adhere even when they pinky swear they don't. Again, not that any of that would apply to me nor that they do spy but just the thought that they may us enough. Before someone says some smartass shit, I'd say the same for the opposite but idk many nazi mail providers.

I guess I'll have to pay, idk, maybe forward email. I'd pay proton if they'd just let me use imap/pop3 without some stupid "bridge."

ArcaneSlime ,

Yes, "and this is one of the limitations," is what I mean. This isn't just that one with the pretentious "AI" name, it's also riseup, disroot, etc.

ArcaneSlime ,

Well tell apple to let you sideload apps.

ArcaneSlime ,

Nah, the police in my country can compel use of biometrics but not password/key. I refuse to set them up at all.

Outside that even, on like a phone, what if I'm sleeping and a GF uses my finger without consent? It's a security hole imo.

ArcaneSlime ,

A woman's name was used, so problems must be found. If we can't find one, we'll create one. Idk, it's rule 36 and 37 I think.

ArcaneSlime ,

Fdroid has Iphone stuff now?

ArcaneSlime ,

Them:

yup and it's great! Unfortunately there are not good iphone apps that work with omemo encryption.

It's really lightweight and that's such a great feeling.

You:

Search fdroid i have heard they some great ones (and used a good one for a very short amount of time).

Me:

Fdroid has Iphone stuff now?

They say there's no good apps for iPhone with OMEMO support, you say try fdroid, I question when fdroid added iPhone apps. It's all very straight forward, I can't explain it any better than this.

ArcaneSlime ,

Oh lol I was like "damn I didn't think iPhones can sideload, is this some European shit?"

ArcaneSlime ,

I use android I was just wondering when iPhones started letting people sideload. Recently heard they're making them usbc so I figured maybe it was new.

ArcaneSlime ,

Lol we've all been there!

ArcaneSlime ,

If it weren't Nvidia's fault, like, as in they don't support linux on purpose "because fuck you, you do not matter, you'll use the OS we choose and like it," maybe you'd have a point. They could do it, easily, but they don't because they do not care about their users.

ArcaneSlime ,

Doesn't change the fact that those hurdles are caused by nvidia on purpose and they could fix it tomorrow if they wanted, either. Don't be mad at linux about falling victim to it, be mad at nvidia for doing it. That matters to the users, even if they falsely blame linux about it.

ArcaneSlime ,

Oh sorry I thought you were an adult, my mistake.

ArcaneSlime ,

Well, if you're complaining about how nvidia doesn't support linux, seems like it matters to their customers to me. Stop your crying about it then if you don't care so bad.

nvidia gets its shit together and gets rid of it's compatibility issues.

FTFY chump.

ArcaneSlime ,

I'm off thread? I'm directly responding to your comment, so you're off thread then. Guess you should stop commenting "off thread" lol.

By "linux challenges," you mean "nvidia challenges." Again it is nvidia's fault whether you accept that or not. You're complaining about problems with nvidia and pretending they're problems with linux, I'm simply trying to inform you that you incorrectly place the blame on the wrong party, you in turn are being obtuse, this is a you problem lol.

"The users" meaning "the company nvidia?" Because they're the only ones that need to change anything to support linux, linux users just use AMD or Intel, or one of the workarounds to get nvidia supported by the hacked together drivers that "the users" have made. It is nvidia themselves that prevent their hardware from running well on linux.

I'm not enraged by nvidia, I just don't give them money, I use their competitors. I'm not even enraged by stupid people putting blame on linux or "the users" for something done by their precious god-company and then doubling down on being too stupid to understand why anyone would have the audacity to point out why you were wrong and misplace your blame, I'm not enraged at all, I'm laughing at you.

ArcaneSlime ,

What is that, how you masturbate? B/t thumb and pointer with the other thumb up your ass? 'Scuse me, I mean 👍🍑 maybe that'll help you understand.

🥞🧀🍟🐘🐷🐽🐱🎎🎎🎃🧮🕯️💤

ArcaneSlime ,

🍕🥓🏝️🪀

ArcaneSlime ,

Back to your masturbation technique again eh?

ArcaneSlime ,

There's also "Newpipe X Sponsorblock" (iirc that's the name) on IzzyOnDroid's repo that incorporates it as well.

Never heard of tubular, do they make any other changes or is it just the SB integration?

ArcaneSlime ,

Oh cool, TIL thanks!

ArcaneSlime ,

Quick Detach Organic Light-Emitting Diode?

ArcaneSlime ,

Lol thanks. I knew I was joking but I also didn't know the real answer haha.

ArcaneSlime ,

I've been using Fedora (Gnome) on my laptop, but I'm going to try the KDE spin when my Framework ships. From what I hear it's possible to theme KDE like, infinitely, including iirc a windows 95 theme? Ideally I'll be able to keep that theme and a more "regular" theme and swap at will, only time shall tell. I don't think I could do it 24/7 though.

ArcaneSlime ,

Sure, but it'd be nice to not have to spend what I'm sure isn't a paltry sum when they could just as easily "not" be a cookie cutter copy of literally everything else on the market, in the hope, not promise, that it'll be an improvement.
