It still requires the use of Google/Bing/etc API calls. There's literally no way to truly self host a web indexing search engine without sacrificing your privacy or paying millions of dollars.

I run OPNsense on a device that has recently completely replaced my residential router and it's fun to realize how complex everything is magically working together on a system that looks and feels familiar but is literally completely alien outside of GNU applications and package manager.

I really want to like Proton and all their shit, but they seem to heavily advertise everything they have on every software and product they have in a very intrusive and annoying way.

Simply logging into Proton mail and being bombarded by Proton promotional shit feels like Google all over again.

I also have GFi and currently still use Fi, and I'm telling you Tmobile is better in every single way, including international carrier bonding. I haven't switched over due to Fi VPN being very convenient for me (and there's better VPNs out there anyways so I'm not married to it at all).

Looks like I misread a John Fairburn book where he says Wei'Qi was invented 1000 years ago and the Chinese lied that they invented it 4000 years ago. Even those claims come from dubious archeological excavations done in China.

I'm going to dig deeper, but I remember reading somewhere there's evidence of it actually being invented in India long before it was popular in China, based on the game called Navakankari/Daadi made of small wooden pieces that are less likely to survive archeological records.
