You make the assumption that the person generating the images also trained the AI model. You also make assumptions about how the AI was trained without knowing anything about the model.

Eezyville ,
@Eezyville@sh.itjust.works avatar

And if a person is using a model based on harmful training data, they should be held responsible.

I will have to disagree with you for several reasons.

  • You are still making assumptions about a system you know absolutely nothing about.
  • By your logic anything born from something that caused suffering from others (this example is AI trained on CSAM) the users of that product should be held responsible for the crime committed to create that product.
    • Does that apply to every product/result created from human suffering or just the things you don't like?
    • Will you apply that logic to the prosperity of Western Nations built on the suffering of indigenous and enslaved people? Should everyone who benefit from western prosperity be held responsible for the crimes committed against those people?
    • What about medicine? Two examples are The Tuskegee Syphilis Study and the cancer cells of Henrietta Lacks. Medicine benefited greatly from these two examples but crimes were committed against the people involved. Should every patient from a cancer program that benefited from Ms. Lacks' cancer cells also be subject to pay compensation to her family? The doctors that used her cells without permission didn't.
    • Should we also talk about the advances in medicine found by Nazis who experimented on Jews and others during WW2? We used that data in our manned space program paving the way to all the benefits we get from space technology.

Except if you're Chinese

I just recently got that forced arbitration agreement from them. In response I got out an old Odroid N2+ I had laying around, installed Android TV, installed SmartTube, and never looked back. My only gripe is I have a Nebula subscription and the Nebula app that runs on Android TV is like a damn phone app. It starts with the phone aspect ratio and it expects me to use a touchscreen. It's annoying. If anyone has a solution to this Nebula problem then I would be most appreciative.

Isn't Nginx written by a Russian? So is it now banned in the US? What other software has been effected by this legislation?

Instagram Advertises Nonconsensual AI Nude Apps (www.404media.co)

Instagram is profiting from several ads that invite people to create nonconsensual nude images with AI image generation apps, once again showing that some of the most harmful applications of AI tools are not hidden on the dark corners of the internet, but are actively promoted to users by social media companies unable or...

If they don't create a new law then how will these parents impose their parenting on other families?

Eezyville ,
@Eezyville@sh.itjust.works avatar

Well the thing is Taiwan's official name is the Republic of China and they, just like the People's Republic of China, consider themselves to be China. Officially it is a reunification (by force if necessary) of the two China's. Its not like North and South Korea where they are officially separate countries because they both consider themselves to be one country. It's a complicated situation from a civil war and colonization from Japan.

@Eezyville@sh.itjust.works avatar

Ok since my "post is full of dumb" let me provide some reference material so you can enlighten yourself. Here is a Wikipedia article on the One China policy. Here is on from the Taiwan page.

EDIT: Also I never said that Taiwan considers itself part of China. I said that the Republic of China considers themselves to be China, as in, the official Chinese government. The PRC also considers itself to be official China and it considers Taiwan to be a rogue state, like how Catalonia was going rouge in Spain except the Republic of China considers itself the govt of China.

Eezyville ,
@Eezyville@sh.itjust.works avatar

No, the Republic of China considers itself to be the official Chinese government and that other government, the People's Republic of China, is a rouge state. The RC doesn't have the military might to bring them under control and the PRC feels the same about the RC. It's like if Texas and other southern states went rouge, declared themselves the United States of America, claimed all 50 states as part of America, and DC called BS and also claimed all 50 states. If no force is used to reconcile then only negotiations remain and that is where China is now.

Shit happened to me yesterday. Pissed me off. Bought this TV years ago and suddenly I can't use it until I accept their new arbitration shit. I'm building a stream box and disabling the internet on this thing. I'm sick of ads anyway.

You store your passwords on Chome?

Eezyville ,
@Eezyville@sh.itjust.works avatar

Oh man! Download KeePassXC, put your passwords on there, install the browser extension to use it in your browsers. You can back it up any way you want, including using Google Drive because the file is encrypted.

Eezyville ,
@Eezyville@sh.itjust.works avatar

Some people don't want to sign up to a cloud provider or manage their own instance. KeePassXC offers a simple file that can be stored on your devices. It's easy to sync using your existing cloud accounts and encrypted.

The White House wants to 'cryptographically verify' videos of Joe Biden so viewers don't mistake them for AI deepfakes::Biden's AI advisor Ben Buchanan said a method of clearly verifying White House releases is "in the works."

Eezyville ,
@Eezyville@sh.itjust.works avatar

Maybe the White House should create a hash of the video and add it to a public blockchain. Anyone can then verify if the video is authentic.

I feel the same but I also cannot avoid some sites. Ohio's unemployment and job board only works with Chrome based sites and I have to use those when I'm in between jobs.

@Eezyville@sh.itjust.works avatar

I just use Chromium or Edge. It's too much effort to be stubborn otherwise.

We could go through the hassle of partitioning our drives, installing another OS (and possibly paying for it), maintaining that OS, and rebooting to play this one game. Or we could just not install this game and say fuck that hassle.
