There's some liability issues with this, you can't guarantee someone read that and its not as obvious to someone who may be visually impaired. The proper course of action is to disconnect the vending machine.

Toes OP ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Oh I can relate to that. When WoW first got the death Knights I tried to play them but the opening quests where you raid the village almost made me cry.

Haha, I gotta win for Meow

I paid around $300 for one of the first 2TB drives. Surprisingly it hasn't come that far

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Can that be scaled? c is still better than rotting cables.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Oh that's really helpful thanks for the clarification

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Yeah that's exactly what I was comparing it too.

Can I reroll my character, I have a bunch of awful perpetual debuffs and it only seems to be getting worse.

Well that's where rainbows come from so makes sense

“When employees get to the office, they don’t want to be greeted by a sea of empty desks — they want face-time with their manager and the coworkers..."

Hilarious, Spataro should consider a career in stand-up comedy. Their talents are wasted here.

My client says there are no mods. Probably just a bug but you can ask the admins to be the mod in that case.

Looks like something that would attack me in Zelda.

It's too early to make me laugh like that

It's fairly straightforward to do for free with Hurricane Electric. Some home routers even have it built in as an option. https://tunnelbroker.net/

I'm assuming anyone who's playing around with servers is capable of implementing it.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Yeah that's a fair point, much like a VPN I could see this being useful in scenarios where you have limited control over your network.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

That must be a very unfortunate situation where you don't have control of your network for that to be a concern though. in which case I wouldn't expect it to be suitable for a internet facing homelab?

Like I'm struggling to think of scenarios for this.

I suppose you could be trying to setup a homelab on a college network or using someone else's internet connection where you have no input on the matter.

Perhaps, I could see a case for CGNAT like another user mentioned, where the whole town shares an single IP for example. But I'd imagine such a network would offer poor performance.

But in all those scenarios, a VPS is cheaper and you can do everything this service offers and more.

You've been chosen, now put on your programmer socks and port the Linux kernel to rust.

Don't even need the dude on the tracks, the money bags are already more incentive than they need.

Go on eBay, punch in the price you're looking to spend and search for an old server. Keep in mind some manufacturers use proprietary connectors.

Look for servers with lots of ECC ram, clean photos of the internals.

They probably won't have a drive that's pretty common.

To meet that 16 core requirement, you'll probably be looking at older dual socket systems.

Edit: a quick search I found this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/225978893065?

Not a perfect match but the price is pretty good.

FCC Imposes Nearly $200 Million in Fines on US Wireless Carriers (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon) for Illegal Location Data Sharing (neuters.de)

The carriers sold "real-time location information to data aggregators, allowing this highly sensitive data to wind up in the hands of bail-bond companies, bounty hunters, and other shady actors," FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel said in a statement....

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

That fine is a zero short, should see a reimbursement to each affects customers on the scale of 10k/person.

Yeah I got burned badly by saints row 5. I figured it couldn't be any worse than 4. I was so wrong.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

It could be helpful for dosbox devs.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

I'd like to see the same for 5. Could potentially help with maintaining legacy stuff.

How was your experience with other gear? Was it always a similar problem between different components?

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

I have a bone to pick with Lenovo, the backlight doesn't work out of the box for my laptop in many Linux distributions because as far as I can tell they don't honour the acpi calls to adjust it.

I have to do a whacky work around where I need the proprietary Nvidia driver to control it.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

This is speculation, but were most of them from people who disabled the safety features?

Toes , (edited )
@Toes@ani.social avatar

I heard it's fairly common for people to disarm the feature that requires you to hold the wheel.

Edit: it would be nice if someone explained why I'm being downvoted lol

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Yeah that's kinda what I figured. Thanks

A System to Remove Real-World Reflections from RAW Photos (arxiv.org)

“We describe a system to remove real-world reflections from images for consumer photography. Our system operates on linear (RAW) photos, with the (optional) addition of a contextual photo looking in the opposite direction, e.g., using the selfie camera on a mobile device, which helps disambiguate what should be considered the...

Lots of others mentioned tools to remove the junk. Once you've done that it's mostly identical to windows 10.

Just be cautious if you use tools like Microsoft office or Xbox, some of the more zealous tools can break that. Additionally after major updates you may need to apply the fixes again.

If you can avoid the home edition, in favour of the professional edition you'll have more control over your PC.

Since you're familiar with Linux, the new LTS edition of kubuntu is available. I've had a lot of success with using it for my parents and elderly customers. So it might be worth exploring that possibility. I themed it to look like Windows XP for 1 of my customers and he's quite happy with it.

This was a few years ago, so I don't remember the specific theme. However, KDE's default tools for managing themes are poor and a 3rd party tool such as Kvantum is essential for success. Most theme packs expect it and if you try to install them using the vanilla tools they often won't get you what they show in the screenshots on the kde page.

The minimum wage should be fixed against the cost to buy a home and thrive in your town.

Is there any demand left for 'game systems developers'? As in, people knowledgeable on Win32 or POSIX API, PE/ELF, Compilers and Interpreters, etc, when it concerns games exclusively? (+UNIX engine?)

I don't think my knowledge is complete about Windows side of things (PE and Win32 API, MASM, VC++ etc) so I never dared apply for such jobs. But I have never seen one either. I think it theoretically should exist. The systems side of gaming, especially developing a portable framework, developing retargetable, optimizing...

Traditional TV is dead, I was visiting someone who still has it. There was more commercial than show per slot and they had banner ads during the show. I wouldn't even tolerate that crap if you paid me to watch your tv station.
