GlitterInfection , to Comic Strips in XXX

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent would like a word with you.

GlitterInfection , to Technology in An AI robot is spotting sick tulips to slow the spread of disease through Dutch bulb fields

This is good news. I couldn't stomach any more tulip mania.

GlitterInfection , to Technology in Using AI to spot edible mushrooms could kill you | AI tools are good for some things, but don’t trust your health to apps that make frequent mistakes

While I would not advocate anyone taking up amateur mycology under any circumstances, let alone with an app, or book, to guide them, it's important to note that this article is biased and makes false or misleading claims.

The main issue is that it is talking about AI and meaning LLM-based algorithms. But it uses a study that showed that apps which identify mushrooms are inaccurate in which all of the apps predate, and do not use, LLMs as part of their identification process.

Countering misinformation with misinformation isn't generally the best option in my opinion so I just wanted to point that out.

GlitterInfection , to Technology in VR Headsets Are Approaching the Eye’s Resolution Limits

Pretty soon glaring errors like this will be the only way to identify human vs LLM writing.

Then soon after that the LLMs will start producing glaring grammatical errors to match the humans.

GlitterInfection , to Fediverse in Pixelfed is introducing Curated Onboarding: A Personal Touch to Community Building

This is very good from an admin or moderators perspective.

It makes it harder for new people to get into the fediverse, though. I'd love a version of this that helps new users find the right community.

It would be interesting if something like this federated out to other communities. I'd provide info about me as I feel comfortable, and what I want out of an instance of that federated service. Any community that signed up for it would get a notice of my interest and they could ask for more info or accept or deny me. Instead of the one response I could have many options at the end of it.

It would help me find smaller more closed instances without having to know about them, but still leave the control over whether they want to get to know me in their admin's hands.

GlitterInfection , to Fediverse in Lemmy's Image Problem (Updated 02-06-2024)

Then we also wouldnt have to deal with this kind of meaningless drama.

The day to day drama in corporate software development is MUCH more meaningless than what you're dealing with.

GlitterInfection , to Technology in Reddit introduces a new ad format that looks similar to posts made by users | TechCrunch

When talking about advertising, though, Apple's actions have been pretty amazing for the consumer.

So to bring up an unrelated negative thing they might do in a thread that has nothing to do with them or their business is kind of weird.

It's like you can't stop thinking about Apple.

GlitterInfection , to Technology in Reddit introduces a new ad format that looks similar to posts made by users | TechCrunch

It's totally possible to hold a negative opinion of something and not bring up your unrelated distaste for Apple.

GlitterInfection , to Comic Strips in "Remember that thing you said?"

I did this when I was a teenager and it was surprisingly effective at helping me get out of a depressive period.

Instead of barking I would drown out the negative with a small, pre-thought up, positive sentence about myself. When I caught the negative thoughts, I'd drown them out with it in my head.

GlitterInfection , to 196 in Rule

My take is that Furries align conceptually better with the leather community for roughly that reason. It's not exclusively a sexuality, but deals with stigma in ways that are similar and has some other overlaps.

GlitterInfection , to 196 in Rule

Those are clear cut examples, I think, but there are others that aren't.

For example, I don't think Furries should be included in there but I have heard some people do consider them as part of the +.

GlitterInfection , to Privacy in European Court of Human Rights Confirms: Weakening Encryption Violates Fundamental Rights

In this case the corporations want strong encryption, and it's every government of every country, even in the EU, that wants to weaken it.

No, you won't.
